I am from North Carolina, but work in Africa half of my days. The other half I spend in the beautiful mountains with my awesome family!

My husband and I enjoyed a sweet getaway weekend in this lovely cottage. Diane and Michael made us (and our dog General) feel very welcome through e-mail messages prior to our visit. Once we arrived, we enjoyed delightful conversations in person. However, they were not at all intrusive.
The walking loop near the cottage was so refreshing with little to no traffic, lots of shade, and two small waterfalls. Back deck is perfect for grilling or eating outside. Jumping Off Rock is a gorgeous overlook of the Blue Ridge Mts. only about 4 miles from the cottage. This is truly a restful, restorative place.
Due to a technical glitch in the reservation system, the cottage was actually not available for the weekend I requested. However, Michael contacted me immediately to let me know and kindly offered another property of his that was not yet listed on Airbnb. We ended up staying somewhere else, but Michael stayed in touch throughout the next couple of weeks to make sure that we had a place to stay and that a refund was processed appropriately. Michael provided amazing customer service even though I never actually stayed in the cottage. I have no doubt that he is an amazing host, if his diligence and persistence in making sure things turned out well for me are any indication. We visit the area often and hope to be able to stay in the cottage in the future.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Cottage in the Trees. The kitchen was appointed with nice and new cookware and knives. The dog run in the back yard was wonderful to let our dogs have some off-leash time during our travels. We enjoyed being surrounded by the old growth trees and walking around in the very quiet neighborhood. We used the propane grill on the back deck to grill up the fresh produce we bought at the farmers market. Michael and Diane went above and beyond by fortifying the dog run on our first day there because one of our dogs will dig and squeeze her way out of a fenced yard if she can. There was even a bedside jar of Andes mints for self serve chocolates on pillow. The cottage is highly recommended for anyone looking for a quiet retreat.
We truly enjoyed having this great couple and their sweet dogs as our guests. They treated our cottage as if it was their own, leaving it neat and clean. The housekeeper said thank you! We hope they will visit again!
Great place! The hosts were extremely helpful and the home was very neat and clean, with great decor. There is a waterfall about 2 blocks away with a bench next to it, perfect for enjoying the outdoors. There are raspberries growing everywhere around the neighborhood. The back porch was comfy and perfect for stargazing and hanging out. Very close to downtown Hendersonville and convenient to Asheville (which is where I went whitewater rafting). Great experience, great hosts, and great home!
That's where the berries went! Just kidding, we are blessed to have had you as our first guest at the cottage. We hope to see you again soon...
Great guest! He was clean and communication went smoothly and fast. Recommended!
Micheal was a wonderful, relaxed guest. He even left us a whole collection of books :) We would always welcome him again!
