We had a very relaxing weekend at Sandy's B&B. Our host Betty was very welcoming. She showed us around the house, made us feel at home and took the time to chat with us on a rainy Saturday morning.
We had a terrific visit at Sandy's B & B. As soon as we arrived, we were informed that Betty was off island due to a family matter. No problem…we were greeted warmly by family member, Beth and her husband Pat. They created such a welcoming and throughly enjoying breakfast experience with the other guest over the following two mornings. that we hated to leave. The room was clean, spacious, quiet, and comfortable. We look forward to going back there on our next visit to Block Island.
Betty was a great host and her house was in a great location, just a 10 minute walk from town. Everything was clean and we enjoyed our stay here very much (PS - continental breakfast is also included which was nice).
Here is an affordable place to stay on Block Island. And it turns out to be a beautiful house in an attractive setting, about 15 minutes walk from the ferry. Betty , a native of Block Island, was able to share history, folk lore, and guidance on the best restaurants and activities. She deserves a special award for rushing after us in her car when she found that we had left behind something of value, an IPad.
The place was spectacular, with a giant deck wrapping around 3 sides of the sprawling home which serves as a B&B, not just a residence. Betty's cats were especially friendly and interesting, especially Rufus who is a breed from Nepal. The sunny kitchen is filled with plants and the goodies Betty prepares. She had great tips and insights and was a gracious hostess. You may want to take a cab rather than walk a mile up a big hill with luggage, but we enjoyed walking back and forth to the center of town. Best of all, we used the "family room" with extra beds for the kids, a private bath, and a door to the deck with birds of dozens of species visiting the flowers and feeders there. Best part was the never-ending breeze!
Great stay. Perfect location. Accommodations fine for little time spent in the room. I would refer this place to friends.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Block Island at Sandy's House Bed & Breakfast! The hostess, Betty, was very welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed getting to know her and exploring the island. The room was clean and comfortable and we had a private bath, which was a nice surprise. The deck which you see in the photo here was GREAT - and allowed us to watch a couple of spectacular sunsets! There were books we could borrow, and movies (a TV and VCR in our room) to watch - although after a long day bicycling around the island we were too tired to watch or read much.
My wife and I stayed at this B&B for Memorial Day weekend. It is very well located a short walk from Old Harbor (the main part of Block Island). Betty was an outstanding host, very kind, generous, and accommodating. The breakfast was top notch. The room was more spacious than what we needed for two people, so it was more than what we expected. We stayed in the room at the bottom floor, so while we didn't have any views from there, there were nice views from the living room and kitchen on the upper level. I would recommend this B&B to any of my friends or family planning to visit Block Island.
