It was a great experience. Our host found us in the middle of the busiest square in Marrakech and let us to the riad. We would have been lost for two hours without him.
The room was small but perfectly comfortable for a one night stay. Sufjan kindly made every effort to get breakfast for us before our early morning departure, which was much appreciated.
The riad was in a great location - right near the medina and all the cafes overlooking the square which was great. The terrace is also gorgeous and overlooks the square - great for breakfast in the morning and drinks before dinner.
My only issue was when we were greeted, we were met by a man who didn't speak English so it made getting situated awkward. Not a huge deal, the riad itself made up for it and the regular host came back later who spoke English and French. They also helped set us up with a guide who I think we overpaid for since he basically just took us to different stores of his friends to buy things. When we asked him to take us home, he kept saying no no you need silver, or you need shoes. And we were like no we need sleep! The riad itself is great- just don't get a guide through them!
We enjoyed our long weekend in Joelle's Riad Oulaya very much.
Soufiane hosted us very friendly and prepared a "yummy" breakfast to start into exciting days. The riad is perfectly situated within the medina and just two corners away from Djemaa el Fna. The souks and palaces all in walking distance. Our recommendation for a perfect night out "just a stone throw" away: La Salama, restaurant and bar. There we enjoyed Moroccan wine and belly dancers (on weekends). Unfortunately, the weather was too chilly to hang out on the roof terrace at Oulaya, which will be perfect during spring time to relax from the busy souks. We will be back one day! Salutations, Bianca et Tine
We had a fantastic in Marrakech and the Riad certainly played it's part. The room was nice, although having an en-suite without was a bit weird, and the roof terrace was brilliant for watching the square come to life in the evening and for it's view of the Atlas Mountains.
The staff were helpful. We couldn't have asked for more.
Great location, the place is cozy and beautiful. The host was friendly, helpful and the breakfast was great! Recommend.
Very good experience ! Nice and colorful Riad, just a few steps away from the famous Jemaa El Fna.
Soufian, the local host, was just adorable. An easy going person who will always make sure to share some tips with you! He also made the breakfast for us everyday. I definitely recommend this road for a short stay in Marrakesh.
