The house was perched on a telegraph hill overlooking the city / coit tower and bay bridge. GREAT LOCATION FOR NYE FIREWORKS. Our whole family had a great time exploring from your home and loved its quirky vintage. Recommended for sure.
We arrived in a clean and beautiful house, spacy, clean and very nice decorated. We received the information for the house and interesting info for our stay. The house was nicer than we would have expected.
Wow! The view from Mart and Kila's is simply breathtaking! Being on the top of Telegraph Hill sure has it's perks including being central to everything in the city, and only a short stroll to loads of cafés and restaurants. It's a lovely clean house, our stay was informative and we will definitely be staying again next time we are in town!
Mart and Kila have a lovely house which is well positioned, high up in the San Francisco landscape which allowed for great views of the San Francisco skyline. Location also allowed for easy access to the Wharf, were many a day was spent 'people watching' and eating clam chowder !! (although if you have difficulty with hills or stairs then this maybe a challenge for you).
Although the house may not be to everyone's taste, with many ornamonts scattered around, and wiring that still feels like it is the original set up from when the house was first built. Visitors must remember that they are staying in someones home, and therefore these 'quirks' reflect the owners personality, if you want clean lines with modern amenities then book yourself into the latest contemporary hotel !!
Only managed to see Mart on one breif occasion, he came across very well and asked if there was anything that we needed (which he asked on more than one occasion).
Overall a good stay, which only helped to enhance our excellent visit to San Francisco.
Mart and Kila's place was magical. Totally matched the photos, and more. The more was that I could feel that this was a home. Everything, from the family photos, the beautiful cookbooks, the rows of spices. The beds were great too, and I loved being perched on Telegraph Hill. The floor plan too allows for a lot of privacy between upstairs and down. One note to consider: parking is challenging with a car, though there are plenty of garages nearby. Lovely stay.
The best thing about this property is definitely the location. Nicely situated and walk-able to downtown and the marina. The property has great views of the bay bridge at night. The outdoor space is nice as well. The home is uniquely decorated and the fireplaces were charming and functional. The hosts were helpful and available.
Especially for the price point of the rental, there were a few issues: the electric and plumbing were finicky, the washer/dryer were not usable, and two of the four burners on the stove were not working. Both staircases leading to the upper are situated outside. The staircase in the back was a bit unstable, with a landing area that is corroding. We traveled with our 13-month-old, and the stairs were a bit hazardous.
This delightful historic home is perfectly situated to explore the Embarcadero just down the steps and the shops, bars and eateries on the streets beneath it to the east.
The house itself is light and delightfully breezy with the windows open, and surprisingly quiet and serene for being in such large city.
The only noise in fact was the occasional squawking of the Parrots of Telegraph hill as they would congregate in the large tree at the rear of the property in the morning hours.
Mart and Kila were courteous to leave us restaurant recommendations, and roasted coffee beans.
Taking a dawn walk up the stairs to Coit Tower and its panoramic views is a must!
Fantastic eperience with Mart and Kila. Communication was fast and great. House was prepared on time as agreed. Mart and Kila gave us great tips regarding surroudings and restaurants in the area. The house is well equiped and IDEALLY located: all the San Francisco best spots can be reached by a walk, fantastic restaurants nearby in the Italian district....And if not, you can easily grab public transportation. The house is old but also has lots of charm and character, we loved it. We were delighted by the fact that it is also super calm and quiet, it is amazing to be in almost dowtown, so close to busy Italian district buzz and feel like in a country retreat at night: no noise at all, we slept so well. I will definitely consider the house again in our next trip to SF.
Great location! Just in the middle of all. Perfect for a family. We would recommend.
