My partner and I spent about a week in Mia's apartment and absolutely LOVED it there!! It's a beautiful spot in a unique and vibrant area, close to everything you might want or need. Her place is especially well suited if you're planning to get around on bixi bikes as there are stops at both ends of the block - great for busy times when there might be only one bike or dock available at each. The Mile End neighborhood is perfect for a young couple and was one of our favorite parts of the trip.
We found Mia's place to be a good size for two people, nicely decorated, clean, comfortable, and tidy. We had everything we needed for our stay, including wifi that worked perfectly, two umbrellas that proved very useful for an especially rainy day, and an espresso machine that was a nice treat. My partner was a little worried that we might be hot since we were traveling at the height of summer and did not have a/c, but we ended up being quite comfortable. A small fan and lots of windows were plenty to keep us cool, especially at night when the temperature drops considerably.
We were sad to miss meeting Mia since she was out of town, but were checked in by a friend and left with details for a second contact person so any questions or concerns could be promptly addressed. Our only regret was not taking Mia up on her generous offer to have someone explain the parking signs in person. We thought we'd be okay, as they seemed to be pretty self explanatory but ended up with a pricey ticket on our last day. Totally our fault, but definitely take the offer and have someone explain where it's okay to leave your car!
My partner and I would both highly recommend a stay at Mia's place! Especially for any young couples or people who might appreciate the character of the neighborhood. If you're looking for a pampering vacation with a big spa bath and lots of fluff, this isn't it. Mia's is a place for people who really want to get out and experience the city of Montreal. So, if you want to feel like a local and explore the area from the perfect spot, stay here :) You won't regret it!
Thanks for a great trip and a wonderful stay in Montreal Mia!!!
Mia's place was exactly as advertised and while we did not meet Mia, her boyfriend was there to let us in and was very friendly and helpful. The neighborhood is certainly the draw here; lots of cafés and restaurants within walking distance and close to Mount Royal park. We're so glad we did this rather than stay at a motel because the experience was so much more local flavor.
The downside to being in such a cool neighborhood is that parking is tight. I almost mistakenly parked in an area that required a permit because I had a hard time understanding the parking signs. My one suggestion for Mia would be to send a parking map of the area to guests so they know where the potential spots are and also know to stay out of the permitted areas. However, once we got parked we just left the car there and walked everywhere so it was not really a big deal.
Thank you Mia for sharing your place with us. We're a little envious that you live in such a cool neighborhood.
Amazing location, close to everything that you may need for a short (or not that short) visit to Montreal. It's a oozy and classic Plateau apartment with wooden floors, a street-facing balcony, etc.
In overall it was a good experience, but we were expecting something more modern and organized (as we saw on the photos). We had to remove some of the owner's clothes to be able to hang our own at the entrance and there were really too many personal things around.
We have stayed at better places in the same area for the same money, so the only downside here was the relation between quality and price.
This apartment enjoys a prime location and as soon as you pass the door, you feels like home.
I highly recommend everyone to spend a few days in this apartment to discover this beautiful city of Montreal.
Mia's place is spacious and very well-located. Staying there is a true Montreal experience, especially during the summer, when you can sit on the balcony and easily walk to coffee shops, restaurants and the mountain, as well as the nearby BIXI stop. That said, the place is quite lived in, and hadn't been cleaned when I arrived. This may have been because Mia was out of town. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience and I recommend the place for someone looking for a low-key space with a great location.
Location, location, location!! Mia's Mile End apartment is perfect for travelers who want a true Montreal experience, rather than staying in one of the downtown hotels (not that there's anything wrong with that).
Mia's apt is a quick jaunt away from a number of good brunch/coffee spots, some nice pubs (Dieu du Ciel, in particular), two amazing bagel bakeries (Fairmount and St-Viateur) and some great shopping as well. Jean-Talon market (a must visit) is not too far away either. Fair warning to the picky sleepers out there in airbnb land: though I slept on the blow up mattress, my friend (who slept on the bed) did note that the coils/springs in the mattress were pretty prominent.
Other than that, we enjoyed our stay @ Mia's apt very much!
I rented Mia's apartment for my parents who were visiting from out of the country. The apartment and the host were great! The neighborhood is one of the best in Montreal in terms of combination of quiet resting, good dining, and accessibility to downtown. The apartment was in excellent condition with lots of comfy amenities. Mia is extremely nice and easy to communicate with. My folks had a great time. Thanks Mia!
Hi Mia, Thanks so much for the use of your apt. I really found the location to be perfect. i loved the neighbourhood and all the close-by amenities. The apt had a good feel and was bright and sunny with a cute balcony and plants. appealed to the gardener in me. Hope they survived after my watering! Lots of stuff to use in fridge-so saved on cost of buying basics. very good spice and tea selections. Great choice of DVDs so used a few in the evenings. Thanks for the Montreal map.Overall I was pleased with my stay at Mia"s.
Mia's place was charming and welcoming.
it was a pleasure staying at her property,as always!
I would really recommend it !
This apartment is so charming and in a fabulous area of Montreal. It is close to restaurants, shops, the metro and markets. The space is great for two people and very spacious. The bathroom is a bit small, but other than that, we loved the space.
If you're looking for a great area with a lot to do in walking distance, this is the place to be.
