I'm not a first time Airbnb user and there was a miscommunication with the host regarding how she wanted the house to be left. Yes, there were dirty dishes in the sink, but there were no guidelines about doing dishes, cleaning kitchen, etc. given to us and we were charged a cleaning fee, so that seemed appropriate. Regarding linens - we didn't use any more than necessary, for both sheets and towels - we had 6 guests staying in the house and used the sofa bed. Luckily, the Airbnb resolutions center saw my side of the story as credible and we weren't charged extra. Vi also needs to understand the difficulties in renting when you're on the other side of the world (as she was) - she wasn't there seeing the situation first hand and was relying on her housekeeper to give her information (some of it inaccurate - I definitely locked the house when we left!).
