Thanks for all the feedback Vaud.
Small apartment? The place is a spacious 2 bedroom apartment just under
1000 Sq.Ft (90m2)! (2 bedrooms w/ queen size beds, large bathroom with full
size bathtub and washer and dryer, separate dining and living room, huge
kitchen and patio), all shown in the pictures by the way.
The steps are being taken care of and an abrasive strip is being put on
We had a higher than normal amount of rain this past summer and got a leak
in the apartment. The water infiltrated on of the walls and the paint is
peeling off. The apartment has been rented all summer long and we never
got a chance to get the wall fixed. We have however fixed the roof so there
will be no more leaks and the wall should get fixed within a couple of
It is true there is a boarded up building across the street. The building
belongs to a high end restaurant group operating a few restaurants in the
area and I believe there is plans to turning that into condos, there is no
word on when that will happen though. The restaurant company's office
occupy the ground floor of the building and there are no squatters or
anything of that nature so it does not really affect our apartment or the
street in general.
Saint Dominique is NOT a sketchy street at all, it is unfortunate you saw
someone doing drugs in the area but such occurrences are not unheard of
anywhere in Montreal. The Plateau Mont-Royal is one of the best/safest
areas of the city. Our street being a mere block over from St Laurent and
all its high end restaurants and stores (BuonaNotte, Globe, M0851, Cinema
Excentris etc...) is policed all day and night.
The back deck is quite a luxury to have in this area and it is really
spacious. It gets great sun exposure for most of the day. We have no
control on how the neighboring buildings keep their backyard and you really
have to look over the edge to see in that yard, you can't see any of that
while seated at the table eating a meal or having a drink.
The apartment is kept at a comfortable temperature in the winter and there
are thermostat in every room you can adjust to your desired temperature and
it does NOT take 3 days to heat up, when all heaters are turned on properly
it takes a few hours to reach the desired temperature even in the middle of
There always was a frying pan in the kitchen along with a complete set of
