Even though we did not meet in person, James was a responsive host and made himself available for any questions or special requests. Checking-in was easy once I figured out the lockbox where the keys are stored. There was a stock of fresh towels in the bathroom and the kitchen was fully equipped. Overall, the place is spacious, comfortable and very well located.
The reservation was canceled 9 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Great neighborhood. Walking distance to a lot of restaurants and entertainment. James was a great host. He accommodated a last minute added night with speed and professionalism. Highly recommended.
The place was beautiful and so cozy! Extremely spacious and great location. Close to transit and near several cute shops and restaurants. James responded to texts very quickly and completely left us with our own space. Definitely recommend this place!
We enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are a great size, and the beds are very comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked. The location is excellent for public transportation. The street is pretty busy. The apt above is also a rental, so just know that the noise from above can be pretty loud. Also, while it does come with a garage, you will need a mini to make use of it, as the opening is very, very narrow. James did show us parking on a southern section of Market St that had no time limit, and that was super helpful and not too far away.
House worked fine, some troubles with the door but James got a repair man over as soon as he could and we worked it out. Location is great to enjoy all the good food in the area. I would tell anyone looking for a place with easy access to the castro and mission to rent here.
The apartment is fantastic and really well laid out, with a lovely terrace and great views from the lounge. The Telegraph Hill location is also great, with the water a five min walk one way and the bars/restaurants of North beach a 10 min walk the other way. Booking and getting keys etc was also easy.
Be warned though that Telegraph Hill is indeed a big hill and to get to the apartment you have to walk up a lot of steps, you cannot drive to the door.
Overall though, we loved this place and would definitely stay again.
James was a good host, responsive to our requests. The unit was furnished and fairly clean when we arrived. A bottle of wine in the unit was a nice touch. The (small) kitchen is stocked with most cookware and dishes you would need for simple meals. It would have been nice to have some extra supplies, such as extra garbage bags and dish cloths/drying towels since we were only staying for a week and did not want to purchase these types of items. For those that like a dark and quiet place to sleep, be advised that the blinds will not keep out the considerable city lights, and the area was very noisy, with sirens, garbage trucks, traffic and construction (seemingly at all hours). This was problematic for our toddler's sleep, but wouldn't have been a problem otherwise. The condo itself is getting a bit old and you can see the wear and tear, but it's definitely sufficient and, as noted, was clean. Garage parking space is very small and challenging for mid-size and large vehicles.
I have grown fond of living here and it is very safe and a spacious apartment. A great area, next to the Bay and near the Ferry Building (great food shopping) with a farmers market every Saturday, Tuesday & Thursday. A 20 minute walk to my office in the city and walking distance to many tour pick ups and Cal Station and AT&T park.
On arrival is was a little disappointing, a few things - hob dirty (we have since cleaned it and it looks 20 times better) ; the en-suite sink needs replacing as rusted. There were no instructions about the key fob and entry into building. One key is for door to apartment; the one grey key fob allows entry, and omits the 15 granite stairs which would be handy to know as I needed to drag my business case up and down.
However, kitchen has all "white" appliances but perhaps a few more utensils would be good. There were some dishwasher cleaning items which was useful, although no dishcloth ! (I bought one). Bathroom cleaning sprays would be good to allow ad-hoc cleaning - I asked the cleaner and she said no - I bought some and left it under the sink. Instructions (for naive UK visitors) on how to use television/infinity box, washing machine, over etc. I worked it out but it would be a nice to have. Also please advise guests that it is very NOISY and there is NO Air Conditioning and only 2 opening windows which is a big problem as currently the apartment is in the middle of some major building projects (hopefully they will finish in the near future) and the apartment is practically underneath the Bay Bridge, constant traffic. It was hot weather during our entire stay (90 degrees plus) some cooling air would be good. The second bedroom does not have an opening window. James is not a host as such. He works for a rental company and is based on the East Coast - The apartment is west coast. However, he is very responsive. I have not seen or heard from any representative on west coast!. Not sure if I would stay here again unless we had air conditioning.
James is a great guest, very nice person, very friendly and took perfect care of the apartment, I highly recommend him.
James & Brian were truly amazing guests while staying in my flat in New York City. They brought an incredibly positive energy: left the apartment in the same perfect condition as it was when they initially checked-in, super neat, respectful to all the household belongings, always responsive! Was a real pleasure having them as guests!!!
I definitely look forward to hosting James again in the future as well as recommend him to other hosts! Oksana
