We had a great visit to Tahoe City and loved the Quiet Forest Home. Everything was as described!
Sophie was very responsive to our questions. We really enjoyed staying at this cozy cabin which is also at a very convenience location. It is less than 10 minutes drive to Homewood Ski Resort! It is also fairly close to a local Safeway and many decent restaurants near the Lake Blvd. It's a quiet neighborhood. The neighbors are pretty friendly. In addition, I appreciated Sophie has provided us instructions for check-in and departure procedures which were clear and easy to follow. There is also a beautiful lake view only 2 minutes drive for great pictures or selfies! Thanks again for the accommodation!
We had an absolutely lovely stay at Sophie & Frederick's home. We went for a short holiday trip with our 3 year old son and my parents. The home looks just like the pictures and was very comfortable for a family with young kids. The location is outstanding, with very quick access to both the lake itself and Tahoe City. We would definitely come back!
Recommend this lovely cabin - warm, clean, has everything we needed for our 2 nights stay, absolutely hassle free.
Fred and Sophie are very responsive for my questions (during lunch time!). Great hosts!
Beautiful house, perfectly appointed and just as the pictures describe. We had a wonderful time staying here with our in-laws and our 2 young kids. There were lots of kids books and games to keep the kids occupied on the one rainy day we had. Although it was off-season, there was plenty to see and do in the area. Just 3 miles from Tahoe city so shops and restaurants are close-by but it's nice to be a little removed from the town too. Lovely neighborhood and plenty of walks/hikes in the area.
The house is clean, comfortable, well appointed and exactly as pictured. Unfortunately we encountered a plumbing issue midway through our stay which forced required us to find alternate accommodations. Sophie was incredibly responsive and apologetic for our inconvenience and we were promptly refunded our lost nights.
The home was exactly as pictured on the website which was great. I am very allergic to dust and was hoping to find a clean cabin that had relatively new furniture etc. and I was not disappointed. The place was about as sparkling as a new cabin could be when we arrived.
We'd read it was great for families from another review. I have a 16 month old who did quite well there except for a number of exposed cords that we had to be very careful about. The huge bonus of the neighborhood turned out to be the Rideout community center just a block and a half away that we visited every day. They had all sorts of resources for kids and a playground and even a basketball court for my husband to shoot around in. The outdoor dining area was a bonus so we could all eat meals out there and watch the squirrels running around and listen to the sounds of nature that are endlessly entertaining for kids. The bedding was clean and we made use of all the rooms in the house. There were a great selection of vacation grown up books and some fun children's books too in a little library in the living room.
The local restaurants from Sunnyside to the bazillion in Tahoe City proper and Squaw were all quite close and allowed us a lot of different dining options. Meek's Beach was an easy drive with a fun stop at PDQ for the largest sandwiches ever. All in all it was a perfect summer location to enjoy the hiking and best things North Lake Tahoe has to offer.
We were very careful about keeping the doors and window curtains closed to prevent bears and had no issues. We were also very careful about not putting anything unnecessary into the plumbing. That being said, early on in our trip (day two of six I believe) the septic tank overflowed. The hosts responded to our email within 9 minutes and were extremely apologetic and had a plumber out in a few hours. They also had a professional cleaning team come to do a deep clean which was nice. It was still a bit of a bummer and put a damper on a day of the trip. I can't say what they could have done better as hosts, I just thought I should put it out there for readers.
All in all I would recommend the place.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience. The plumber removed a blockage in the main sewer line (luckily we do not have a septic tank).
We had a wonderful time at this home in the forest! Surrounded by majestic pines, well-located near to Tahoe City (but not too near!), clean, and comfortable, we enjoyed the whole experience. Our two little ones (both under 3-years-old) were safe and happy here as well--definitely family-friendly. We would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a getaway in the woods by the lake! :) Thanks, Sophie and Frederick!
Perfectly lovely accommodations, set in a quiet area and just a short trip to the water; we easily walked to the shore with a two-year-old and a four-year-old, and enjoyed swimming in the lake.
The beds were comfy, the entertainment system just right, and the back garden perfect for an evening meal. Tahoe City is an easy few minutes drive away.
We stayed here for the long Memorial day weekend and absolutely loved it. It is a cozy place and exactly what we were looking for. We were a group of 6 working professionals in our late 20s/early 30s and were looking for a quiet, clean and convenient place. The location is great as it is only a few minutes walk from the lake and a short drive to Tahoe City. The house itself is beautiful inside and there is a BBQ grill in the back that we used. Sophie and Frederick were also very nice and accommodating.
