We stayed with Michael in February 2014. He and his room mates were all very friendly and helpful. The room was warm and quiet as advertised. The house was not perfect but it added to the charm and had everything you needed. The best part was the location which was unbeatable for the price. It was in walking distance of most of the main attractions and there were plenty of food places and shops near by. Public transport was also very close if you needed it. Would definitely stay there again.
This place is really cool given you understand that you're pretty much getting what you pay for. It is one big room with a double bed and then they add mattresses on demand. The vibe of the place is quite cool and the people who live there were friendly.
It's perfect for a boys weekend but nothing more I believe. Definitely not for families.
Close to the metro and many activities.
Would stay there again. Considering value for money, it's ideal.
This is a clean, warm, and very quiet hostel-like environment. If you want something cheap with no frills, it works. The walls are unfinished, and the upstairs floors and hallway were a bit grim and need a lot of work. The wifi was extremely slow and weak, but I could connect to free wifi from local businesses. The breaker shorted a few times (any time I had on the heat and my computer).
Michael and the roommates were nice and helpful. Great access to the metro (Beri-UQAM station) and bus routes around town and to the airport. I loved the location, but next time I'm in Montreal, I'd rather spend a little more for a few more frills.
I had a fabulous stay at Last Baroque. A really good crew live there and create a homely and fun atmosphere. My room was bigger than a lot of my apartments in Melbourne but somehow the bar heater managed to keep the room toasty (website hidden) Catherine St is right in the mix and I pretty much walked everywhere. There is even a supermarket across the street. Don't tell too many of your friends though as otherwise I won't be able to stay there next time!
I had a short stay in this Bohemian set up, but enjoyed it greatly.
My room was right up the back, and it was warm and quiet. Which considering I arrived at night with -32degree weather, I was super appreciative.
Michael is a good host and very communicative leading up to and during my stay.
The building itself still has a lot of its original character, which I really enjoyed.
Overall I think the location is great, because you're just up the road from the Berri-UQAM station, which has every Metro train lead into it.
Just a short walk down to the gay village, and I found some great places to eat.
I plan to come back to Montreal at a later stage, and I would definitely stay here again.
We had a nice time at this place over New Year's. I really liked the atmosphere and the rooms. Everything was clean and tidy. The living room was very cold though.
It's more like a small hostel, which is cool if you want to meet other people!
