We really enjoyed staying in East Village and walking through the local community. It is a fun area. The apt was very warm, clean and attractive. And good value. Ray was friendly and responded quickly to our queries eg how to work the TV! During our stay there was a major snow storm but this did not hinder us getting to the subway and we remained very cosy in the apt. Chris and Gil
Ray's place was perfect and as described. He kept everything easy and was great with communication. Love NYC, thanks Ray
Great little gem of a flat in the East of the East Village, very quiet and clean.
Love this areal,it feels very local and safe. There are great restaurants, bars and interesting little independent shops.
Hope to be back again in 2014.
Ray's apartment was a great find for out trip. It was our first time to NYC and the cost was so reasonable and saved us a lot compared to a hotel at the same time of year. Cosy and warm (very important in NYC in December) it was really perfect for our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids). Cool neighbourhood too. Ninth St Espresso just a 4 or 5 min walk for a top class morning coffee, Katz Deli just a few minutes walk the other way and plenty of great neighbourhood stores to explore. In warmer weather it would be a really nice stroll up through the east side toward Midtown but as it was December it was no problem to hail a cab, pay $12 or so and be in Chelsea or Midtown or wherever you wanted to get to. Highly recommend Ray's Alphabet City apartment and would certainly stay again on future visits to the Big Apple. Ray's communication and availability was also excellent. If you want an economic way to experience NYC and get some authentic neighbourhood experiences with easy access to the rest of Manhattan, this is the place!
Ray's place was excellent! Very comfortable and spacious. Ray was very responsive and helpful.
Perfect accommodation for 3 girls in New York to celebrate a birthday. The apartment was clean and comfortable, the shower worked and it was surprisingly quiet at night. Just 2 blocks away and there were great bars and restaurants, food store on the next corner and easy to get to public transport, bus or subway. It is up 4 flights of stairs (not the most welcoming entrance when you first arrive in the dark) so if you need an elevator this may be a problem. Ray was more than helpful whenever we needed to ask about restaurants, taxis or luggage store. We would definitely stay with him again
the place was very clean, exactly as pictured and ray was easy to get a hold of if needed. downsides were that it was far from transportation, not in the best neighborhood and the bed was very hard!
The flat is very nice and cosy, subway is few blocks away but the bus stops in the street in front of it so it's totally comfortable! There are few supermarkets close by and the area is very safe and quiet. Ray is very very kind and a great host! It was my first time in NY and it really felt like home.
Ray was a very helpful and attentive host. He provided details of where we could store our suitcases because a late check-out was not available. He gave us directions to the closest subway station and was quick to answer any questions we had.
Now about the apartment; it was just as described.
Easy to find and the grocery store from where you collect the keys is only a couple of blocks away. Be mindful that it's a walk up, so prepare for some stairs therefore maybe not suitable for older travelers. The apartment has all of the amenities along with a hairdryer and coffee machine which is great. It is small so best suited to small parties of 2-3 people. It is quite a walk to the nearest station, around 20 minutes but there are lots of bars and restaurants in the area. The apartment was not quite up to my standard cleanliness wise. There were red hairs in the shower presumably from the last guests and the dishes hadn't been put away so were stacked around the sink. But the bedding and towels had clearly been laundered and the rest of the apartment was presentable. Overall enjoyed my trip, definitely good value for money and would recommend staying at Ray's.
Interacting with Ray was awesome. He was very accommodating- I asked if I could have a little dinner party with guests and he proactively brought more chairs over to the department.
All and all the check in and check out was very smooth and Ray was a great host!
Fantastic guest. Almost feel guilty making him pay! Hardly there. So clean and polite I nearly didn't know he was there
Thank you very much it was a pleasure to host you. We hope you will come back again.
Ray is a fantastic guest! This was the second time he has stayed with us and we were happy to welcome him back. He is friendly, communicative, quiet, and leaves our apartment very clean. We highly recommend him to other Airbnb hosts.
Ray was a great guest , he left the apartment nice and clean i definitely recommend him and will host him again anytime in the future
Ray and T were wonderful guests. Communication was excellent and they were very clean, quiet and respectful. We welcome them back anytime.
Ray and T were great. They were communicative, quiet, and appreciative of all our efforts to make their stay as pleasant as possible. They left our apartment spotless, as well, so we couldn't ask for better guests. We would love to have them stay with us again.
Ray was an easy and welcomed guest at my home in Amherst. He initiated contact with me the day before his arrival and kept me aware of his timing on the day of travel. Upon arrival, his party was friendly and respectful of my home and used everything with care, even offering to cook breakfast for me. I would welcome him back anytime.
