Manel graduated as a clinical psychologist, lived in Porto, Lisbon, Rome, Dublin and London and worked across the publishing, fashion, and financial services industry.
We had such a fantastic time at Manel's place. The Villa is beautiful and well proportioned for a group of ten - the pictures on Airbnb do it justice. Atlantic views and stunning sunsets each evening.
All five bedrooms have en-suite and double sinks. The one upstairs master bedroom is a masterpiece, and the four downstairs bedrooms are also well maintained. There are two cots and our newborn baby was very happy!
Kitchen facilities are really good; plenty of fridge space, a big BBQ, modern appliances and sharp knifes - we ate in most evenings. The pool is great, though remember the strong Atlantic breeze will knock a few degrees off the ambient temperature.
Any problems we had were quickly resolved by Telmo, the friendly young man with good English, who lives nearby. The only negative is the WiFi - slow and unreliable, not that we particularly minded as blazing sun was much more of an attraction. Also, bear in mind that, even though the house is cool and shady, there's no air conditioning so on warm nights you'll need to open windows (and there's no insect covers on those).
Overall, a fantastic house, nice location, great communication and a stunning backdrop. Recommended.
Second time round and just as good! Perfect place to escape city life! See you next year!
Casa Da Boavista is truly a great place to stay, the villa itself is beautiful, spacious and clean. There is plenty of room with lots of gadgets and interesting design features. The bedrooms are very comfortable and en suite bathrooms a plus! The pool is amazing and the patio is private. Upon arrival we received a wonderful fruit basket and fresh bread which was pleasant after a long drive. The quality of the local produce made us end up cooking as opposed to going out but with a fully stocked kitchen this was not a problem. the host provided us with much information on the local area which was helpful, giving us a local taxi number and restaurants to go to. The villa had wireless internet, although a bit slow was still a bonus. bikes were available for local bike rides through the town. A car is Recommended!
The hosts made a lovely effort ensuring we were having a good time. And we hope that in the future we could come. I definitely recommend this place for families and/or groups of friends.
Manel and his friends were perfect guests! Pleasant, polite, friendly, interested, tidy and clean. Hope they had great time in Amsterdam and hope to welcome them again sometime.
Manel has been a dear friend for 10 years now. We've been host and guest to each other on multiple occasions, and in several cities around Europe. We've traveled together, shared life-changing experiences with each other and, coming to think of it, we even lived under the same roof for a couple of weeks in Siena some years ago! Both Manel and his loving family are wonderful hosts. They'll make you feel at home in a blink of an eye and are always ready to share off the beaten path tips with you; be it great food, a cultural must-see or that special place, that you're looking for. You will never run out of conversation with this family, but your personal space bubble will also never pop. Manel is one of those people I will always have a place to sleep for, even on the shortest of notices. I can only wonder why he still hasn't paid me a visit in Berlin! Book those flights Manel. Just book 'em.
