Shane could not have been more helpful and caring. We were in town for a very stressful situation, and he was extremely thoughtful and considerate. His apartment is exactly how it looks in the pictures, my only surprise was that it was on the second floor, which we were not prepared for. The location could not be beat. So close to the Old Market and great restaurants and shopping. Shane's artwork was incredibly interesting and we enjoyed discussing it and checking out all the pieces in his apartment. It's such a lovely experience to share a piece of someone's life, someone you've never met and will never know. My daughter went to Europe and used airbnb, that's how I found out about it. Who would think I would use it in Omaha Nebraska during a family crisis? I forgot how fantastic Nebraskans are, I grew up there but I've been gone for a long time. Shane and my experience with him and other people in Omaha reminded me why it's one of the best places in the United States with the best people.
We stopped by Shane's to stay for about a week. Shane was responsive to communications and met us for check-in. He was chill, welcoming and easy going, and helped us with some recommendations for the area. The apartment was quirky and comfortable, we had everything we needed there. The location is easy to access everything, and we had ample street parking.
The listing description was accurate and the pictures of the apartment were fitting. In fact, the apartment was even bigger than the pictures made it seem. The neighborhood was quiet, and only about a 10 minute cab ride from down town, which was perfect as we needed to get to a conference at a hotel every morning. There were a lot of interesting restaurants, but our time unfortunately did not permit us to go to them.
Shane's apartment was interesting and eclectic, filled with cool art he's collected alongside his son's own artwork. Although my husband and I never met him, he was extremely accommodating and responsive via telephone. We loved staying his apartment, and our two dogs were ecstatic to have such an awesome yard to run around in. I would definitely stay again if I ever return to Omaha!
Shane was GREAT. He was responsive, and tremendously helpful -- before and during our stay.
I do understand some of the reviews of his place - it is a bit "manly," for some I imagine. But it's a nice, comfortable, convenient place...especially if you want to stay in a real neighborhood VERY close to the Old Market.
I got a warm welcome from Shane and his son. The place was large and comfortable and the decor was very unusual and eclectic. The area around the apartment was quiet but a bit desolate, and I did not feel totally safe walking around at night (though I did so without incident).
We loved Sean's place. He is an artist, and the place is decorated with so much fun and interesting stuff (a shark kite! taxidermy! etc.) It's the top floor in an old standalone building, and easy to walk to House of Loom and Old Market (maybe a 10-15 min walk? Very quick cab ride). Street parking was super easy. We didn't meet Sean in person but he was a responsive host and even welcomed us to use his coffee (thanks, Sean!) The place has a lot of character and was extremely comfortable.
Shane was wonderful - very friendly and helpful. He put together a great list of places to eat and local coffee shops, and really made us feel at home in general. The neighborhood is cool - not gentrified but full of local character (there's a "Mystery Bookstore," Czech restaurant, and DELICIOUS taco place right down the street).
The apartment was definitely large enough for three people (we had four, including a child). Shane provided coffee which we enjoyed drinking while we sat around his beautiful dining room table.
Plenty of original art to ponder is a plus!
Shane was accommodating and friendly, however due to scheduling conflicts was unable to meet us. He has a lovely loft with some great art work. His little guinea pig was cute and didn't cause too much noise. We enjoyed our stay there!
Very cool place with amazing art and vintage toys as decoration. We barely stayed there because it was just an overnight stop on a road trip, but we enjoyed the stay and Shane made it very easy for us to get in and out just as we needed. Thanks, Shane!
Shane and his girlfriend came into town for a show. They were in and out, quiet and considerate. Happy to recommend.
