We moved to Sydney from London in June 2008 and love it here! Happy to meet and host good people from anywhere in the world. :)
We stayed 5 nights with Steve & Blain who are very friendly and gracious hosts. We really appreciated Steve's effort even though it was a working day for him to offer to check us in earlier which saved us so much less hassle to meet up with our family.
Steve & Blains apartment is in an excellent location for any visitor to Sydney and the access to many cafés/ restaurant & convenience stores a few metres away is fantastic. The bedroom is spacious and plenty of wardrobe space and hangers to unpack which is great. The guest bathroom is well appointed and all areas very clean and welcoming.
We appreciated the breakfast provisions provided which was a good start to each day
We would thoroughly recommend this bnb and look forward to another stay in the future

Great location close to Darling Harbour.
Clean modern, stylish apartment with lovely couple Steve and Blain, who we hardly knew were there.
Local facilities close to hand.
Blain and Steve are very helpful, nice and considerate host. They offer us a flexible check out time, for our flight is in the afternoon. Blain give us some useful trip tips and recommend amazing restaurant for us. And the location of the apartment is perfect! The city centre, the Rock, fish market and Chinatown are all in walking-distance. I would stay here again!
Steve and blain were great hosts! They were very accommodating to our schedule and key pickup was very easy. They also were so friendly and had great tips to offer! The Aptment was very clean and the bedroom and bathroom were spotless. The bed and sheets were very comfortable too! The location in the city was awesome and the bus and trains were easily a 10 min walking distance away. I would highly recommend this spot and would use it again if I was in the area.
Steve and Blain's apartment is clean and in a convenient location, just a few minutes from Downtown. The guest room is quite spacious. It looks just like in the photos, with the reading desk being quite useful. Blain is very helpful person and a great host - thanks again!
This is the second time in quick succession I've stayed here - same great experience. Steve and Blaine are great, the flat/room are nice, and the location nigh on unbeatable. Thoroughly recommended.
Thanks Steve and Blain. The apartment is fab. Awesome location, right on Darling Harbour. Really lovely couple to talk to when we arrived. Spotless place. Comfy bed. Great bathroom. Highly recommended.
Great stay. The unit was very clean and organized. Steve and Blain went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Great hosts! The location is also very favorable. Highly recommended.
This is where I think the idea of AirBnB is awesome!!
1) LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. The apartment couldn't have been more perfect for my stay in Sydney. as many of the reviewers said, it's very close to everything: literally stepping-out into Darling Harbour, walk to opera house, circular Key. ferries etc……
2) I love the fact that this's super clean apartment. (this's very important for me as I am clean freak). Bed was very comfortable and covers/sheet/towels are hotel quality white. The private bathroom is roomy, bright and spotless clean. I had everything I need in the house such as: milk, breakfast, coffee, tea.....
3) Not only Steve & Blain were wonderful and down to the earth hosts, I am also very glad to say I made Aussie friends. Thanks to AirBnB:)...
Great location in CBD within walking distance to points of interests and Darling Harbour at your doorstep. The flat was clean and Steve and Blain were great hosts.
Steve and Blain recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary with a weekend at Avoca Beach Sun and Surf. We were delighted to meet them and host them in our home. They wined and dined at local attractions and even managed a swim despite the overcast weather! We found Steve and Blain wonderful and thoughtful house guests and would welcome them back at any time....maybe their second wedding anniversary, or hopefully sooner!
Great guests! Smart, nice, polite, intrigued with Conca dei Marini and the Amalfi Coast. I was really glad to have met them. When they leave, the house was really in perfect conditions.
After travelling over 10,000 miles and spending a week full of disillusioning room inspections I barely dared hoping to find a decent place to stay (finding decent accommodation within Sydney’s CBD can be a real pain in the ass)... but ultimately found me a second home.
I guess there is not much to add to Stevie’s description. Staying at Darling Harbour with all its restaurants and bars has a unique charm and comes with lots of amenities – most attractions are situated within walking distance and all the others can be easily reached by public transport (Wynyard Station is only a few minutes away and the ferry starts right from the harbour).
For your every day needs there is a (excellent) bakery, supermarket and a laundry shop available – all within two to five minutes walking distance.
Right at the door-steps a 24/7 corner-shop offers the same service (except for baking) at a slightly higher price.
The building is quite new (shiny and modern) and well maintained. It comes with a concierge and security service. Due to electronic locks at every entrance and within the elevators a high security-standard is maintained. With your key you’re able to access your respective floor and the common areas.
A gym (good range/variety of training devices), pool, sauna and bbq-area are part of the deal. All neighbours seemed to be nice and quite social.
Garbage facilities can be found on every floor.
The flat comes with a dining table, a couch-corner, a modern kitchen and a cat. That’s what you’ll deal with in the common area. The place itself is very tidy and offers a TV, stereo and free almost unlimited (it’s quite hard to exhaust the monthly download-capacity) WiFi.
The bathroom is huge with a big mirror and a bathtub. It also contains the laundry facilities incl. a dryer.
The bedroom is quite spacious and comes with a huge bed and wardrobe as well as a desk. It is very bright but can effectively be darkened by vertical blinds. You can also access the balcony from your room which offers a nice view of the sunset over Darling Harbour.
I reserved the best for last – the amazing people you’re going to stay with!
I've been living with Stevie and his fiancée (and the cat) over the last three months and enjoyed every minute of it! Not only are they both very lovely people (no matter how late they worked they were always cheerful) but they can also provide you with expert advice on dining, shopping and sightseeing.
“This place now is yours too”. These were probably the first words Stevie’s fiancée told me when I asked her if she was ok with me using some of the stuff in the kitchen. It is a representative statement for their attitude as they deliberately let you use their stuff (although I can only guess there is a reasonable limit to that which I never tried to stress).
I felt immediately integrated when on our first joint evening Stevie invited me to have dinner with my new flat mates – he is one excellent cook (and so is she). This continued over the time as we occasionally cooked for each other or even together.
Now comes the important part: They care about their flat mates. When I was struck down by a virus so badly that I was barely able to leave my bed during the first days they naturally took care of me and would even cook for me until I was able to do it myself. This was really special and as it comes naturally to them and I think they’re not even aware of how awesome they are (which is why I included this paragraph).
What else to say? We laughed a lot and Stevie and his fiancée are always up for a chat. We spent some evenings on the couch talking but we also went to bars or restaurants together and every single time we had a blast. One of my personal highlights was the poker night we held at “our” place!
They actually do live a healthy lifestyle and it instantly affected me too. I’ve almost lost 10 kg during my three months with them due to mutual training sessions at the gym and an increase in salad on my diet (yet pizza was quite popular as well).
However, one warning needs to be given: One flat-mate is seriously mental, I’m not joking – I’m talking about the cat! If you don’t care about cats and are fine with ignoring her you’ll probably be able to co-exist peacefully… but if you are like me and cannot resist cuddling and patting those little furballs you should be prepared loosing a limb while trying so. (O;
(In)famous last words:
It might not be the cheapest deal available but it sure is worth every cent! If you ever get the chance to stay with Stevie and his “family” you should definitely take it!
We started as strangers and parted as friends…
