NYU Alumni now living in Hawaii
My stay at the Annex was great. The work trade took a little bit of a burden off my wallet and the location was great for exploring Pahoa. The place is simple and between the four of us living and working there we managed to keep it clean and cozy.
Had a fantastic time with David. It was really fantastic when he called in our order to the Local Thai restaurant and the food was waiting for us when we got there. The hot tub and pool were really great to relax in after the day out. Great place for the open minded traveler.
My stay at David's was beyond amazing. Not only if his space beautiful and clean and close to lots of great shops, bars, restaurants!, but David himself was incredibly personable, open minded, and helpful. He had gave us all the tips we needed for cool places and good eats to enjoy while we were there. Cheers to David - everything felt so in touch with the true spirit of AirBnB - if your ever in NYC you always have a place to stay!
Several friend and I rented this property and absolutely loved it. It had a unique charm and Island authenticity that I don't think we could have found anywhere else. It was so nice to get away from the typical tourist areas and get a real Hawaiian experience. The house was clean, the pool, jacuzzi, and firepit were amazing and the overall ambiance was unbeatable. It would be hard to imagine staying anywhere else on The Big Island.
My stay at the Annex was great. Beautiful location and great area. The Annex was very clean and well kept. The other guests were fun to hang out with. David was a GREAT host, he was always smiling and laughing, a joy to be around. I would recommend the Annex to anyone. Mahalo nui loa David :)
The Annex-House was a fun place for me. The guys were really nice, showed me around and took care. I enjoyed to see all the local places. They tried to keep the house clean and cofortable and cooked some nice food for me. Thank you it was supercool!
We stayed in David's lovely Chillax Inn, and thoroughly enjoyed the amenities of his historical and artistic B&B, including a large private room and big comfortable bed, sparkling bathroom, beautiful pool, relaxing hot tub and lanai, free wifi, free secure on-site parking, fresh coffee, and engaging fun conversation. David is a fantastic host, and he generously shared his insider knowledge of the Puna District and the Big Island with us. We savored delicious fresh fruit daily, grown onsite, and walked from Chillax Inn to the friendly Pahoa Village shopping, dining, and outdoor market hot spots. We would absolutely stay there again, and would recommend the Chillax Inn to everyone exploring the Puna District's remarkable diving, snorkeling, and surfing spots, the cool towns of Hilo and Pahoa, or the amazing Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Chillax Inn feels like home, we had a wonderful stay. Jim and Kay Haggenjos, Portland, Oregon, October 2013.
David was a fantastic host. We felt more than at home. Evenings at his house were very laid back and made for great relaxation. Very creative design to the whole place.
No problems. Nice stay.
If you come to the Big Island, you should really experience both sides of the island if you have the chance - completely different scenery, culture, and climate. Pahoa is the best base for adventures, and David's house is THE prime location in Pahoa as it is the first house from the main drag of restaurants and shops (including one of the absolute best restaurants on island). His hot tub, amazing outdoor showers, and pool are perfect for relaxing at the end of the day, all lit beautifully at night. The pictures do not do justice to either the house or his property.
This was our first experience with airbnb and it's hard to imagine a more perfect host. David suggested better places to go than any guide book, gave us space to do our own thing, great conversation later on, and even sent us on our way with fresh fruit from his gorgeous gardens. We had some issues after our plane landed and he accommodated our delayed arrival easily. I only wish we could have spent more time out there.
Pahoa (or the Hilo side of the island) might not be for everyone, but if it does appeal to you, I would not only recommend David's place but insist there is no reason to look elsewhere. Thank you again, David.
Great guy , very professional and very aware of my space ..it was a pleasure meeting him and letting him stayed at my house ..
