Eli was friendly and kind-hearted. He helped us a lot.
It was an incredibly easy transaction. The apartment was wonderful and Eli was very understanding on the check in and check out time.
The location is ideal for super easy commute to tourist attractions. I like this side of New York, with it's piercings, tattoos and cool cool kids. Take the Bus on 14th, through Union Square and cruise to a stop on your corner. 1 minute walk and you're in the Village night life. The room was roomy and clean (actually, schedules allowed me switched to the 'guest' room and Eli kept his) and the apartment was clean enough for my ducking in and out.
Eli's a great host, real cool guy, and the place is great Id recommend staying here for sure.
Eli was great and very helpful. This is the second time I have stayed at Eli's since he is such a great host. The apartment is also in a great location, not too far from the subway with shops, bars/restaurants, etc. nearby. I felt that the apartment/building and neighborhood were safe and we often walked around the area late at night.
My flight was early and I was still able to come right away. The room offered a bed and small pull out couch and the place was clean. My friend and I stayed in one room and the other room was actually rented out as well so the entire place was ours to use as needed. My flight was later in the day and I was allowed to keep my luggage at the place. The neighborhood is safe with a lot of bars, restaurants, and cafés nearby. Short walk to SoHo. About a 7 minute walk to the nearest subway.
Eli was very helpful with letting us into his apartment. Our plane was delayed by several hours, Eli let us in at 2:00 am. The room is nice and sunny and the bed is decent. The building and location is very cool, we explored and went out on the roof for a neat view. Many many bars and clubs in the area that were also fun to explore. The kitchen was handy to cook our own meals, although we found there was no big plates! Only side plates. No microwave in the kitchen either. We used the Astor place metro station many times, it was an easy 10 minute walk, 2 stops to the Empire State Building and the 6 train can take you directly to Grand Central or the Metropolitan museum and many other landmarks. Overall our stay was very nice. We saved a bunch of money by cooking at our surrogate home!
The apt is in a good location, near soho so it is really convenient. But the room is rather small and the place can be cleaner. The host is not unfriendly but neither was he friendly or approachable, he mostly kept to himself, though that wasn't an issue.
Eli was flexible with my check in and check out times which was very helpful. The flat is in a cool, lively neighbourhood in the Lower East Side with plenty of restaurants and bars to hang out at. There are also quite a few different subway stops 10-15 minutes walk from the flat.
The flat isn't the cleanest, a bit of a student house feel about it, but it's not disgustingly dirty either. Eli could do with emptying the bins a bit more often!
If internet access is important for you this is not the flat for you! The internet worked for about 3 days at an incredibly slow speed after which it simply gave up. I asked Eli about this but he was unable to resolve the problem..
Also there is another room in the flat which will be taken up by another air bnb guest or by Eli himself. This wasn't an issue for me, but it did lead to a couple strange incidents when the room was taken up by another guest and I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and found Eli asleep on the couch in the living room. A tad disconcerting as he hadn't told either me or the other guest he would be doing so.
I took over Eli's room (pictured) here. He sat and drank a beer with me over friendly conversation before he left with this trip. He was very personable, but unavailable during his business travels.
The description is very accurate for the room pictured. The furniture may not be arranged like such, but is definitely all present. Eli left a fan, and as per the photo, the window A/C unit. Note that "sunny" very much applies to the bedroom, but not to the kitchen and living area, and that the kitchen and living area have had incense burned and food cooked in them.
East Village is packed with little shops, restaurants, delis, and bars, and I loved my stay! The apartment is just a block from a lovely park. People put really cool paint jobs on their shop walls and here, and artistic graffiti on storage containers. There are a few homeless people in the nieghborhood, but they give nobody any trouble.
