The house was great, very open and great air flow. It had a beautiful view of the ocean and had good views all around. They are not kidding when the say you need a 4X4 to get there though.
Very casual environment and beautiful, old ranch up out of the worst of the humidity. Loved all the sounds of the jungle! We'll miss Bella Vista!
Great guy. Gives off awesome chill vibes. Has great taste in music.
Three friends and I just recently stayed in the Lodge at Bella Vista. Let me just start by saying that the view from the Lodge is incredible! Bert was very accommodating, helpful and welcoming. Don't miss out on Bert's cooking or the horseback riding excursion to the falls. Overall, our experience was great and we'd definitely recommend a stay at Bella Vista!
Bert is one of those hosts that goes out of his way to make you feel at home. He assisted with us finding cool places to go, meeting new people and renting a car. He introduces his guests to one and other and everyone feels like they are staying at someones house rather then a lodge. He is also a fantastic chef, his lasagna is off the chain.
You'd be lucky to stay with Bert at the Bella Vista Lodge. "Beautiful View" is an understatement and it's a small adventure to get there. We crossed a couple shallow streams, drove up a fun, bumpy road, and were rewarded a wonderful view of Dominical.
The lodge is welcoming and rustic, offering a wonderfully relaxing wrap around porch with hammocks and the most amazing, large spiders. Yes spiders! Large and colorful, they have made the porch corner ceilings their homes, keeping the bug population at bay.
Bert and his crew cooked up a delicious 3-course dinner for a very reasonable price and were great company. There's a large field across the road where we played frisbee to the sounds of howler monkeys in the jungle. We met a horse (Bert's), who loved to eat mangoes from the tree in the front yard and 3 dogs, one of which I seriously considered taking home with me - a beautiful rhodesian ridgeback. We were sad to leave after only one night.
Berts B&B was a wonderful experience. We enjoyed the amazing view a lot. The sunset was great. Unfortunately we stayed only for one night, but the next time we would stay longer. The dinner was perfect (cooked by Bert himself - Thanks a lot). Good value for money. Highly recommended.
Our 2 weeks in Costa Rica, we looked for authentic and original places to stay. Bert's place with it's dark wood, homely atmosphere, library, open kitchen, comfortable rooms, big dining tables, is more than authentic, quiet, well situated, cosy, clean, homely, comfortable, beautiful! We admired the sunsets, enjoyed the horse ride to the waterfalls, laughed and chatted with the people present, observed the howler monkey family near the lodge and devoured the famous Bert-dinners!
A type of place you would keep for yourself, ;-)
It felt like coming home...
Bella Vista combines the perfect mix of R&R, fantastic dinners, and a collection of personalities that guarantee great conversation because of their different backgrounds.
Bert is that rare host who listens to what his guests need and points them in the right direction to insure they get the most out of their visit!
The lodge and cabins are absolutely stunning! They have an amazing view and relaxed and natural environment up in the hills. I highly recommend staying at the upper level two bedroom cabin which is the best situated and comfortable place on the site. Bert is extremely nice and we felt at home instantly.
