I recently started a new job that's been keeping me very busy so balancing work and play has been tricky since it's been about 80% work these days.
Most of my traveling will be for work, but I like the travel and I like the work. If only I could tear myself away from my computer more often to actually relax. I've been forcing myself to take a little bit of time to explore at least a little bit of each city these days -- when I'm in the city for more than 23 hours. When I first started traveling for work, I didn't make the time. I do now to avoid burnout and getting really cranky.
I love to eat. It's one of my favorite things to do and I like checking out new food whenever I have the opportunity. I'm a much better eater than I am a cook. :-) During my travels, I've been finding that I tend to eat my way thru each city because I just have to experience what a place has to offer. Great for my belly, not so great for my waistline.
Live music is also great, so I try to sneak away to catch shows whenever I can.
Photography is something that got pushed to the backburner years ago because of work (I'm seeing a trend), but I've slowly been getting myself back into it.
I'm on the road more than two weeks during each month, and sometimes more. I've stayed in my fair share of hotels, so sometimes it's nice to get away from that kind of scene and enjoy something more homey rather than cold surroundings of a hotel. Hopefully I'll be using (website hidden) much more often.
