Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, I decided to venture off to the east coast for medical school. I'm doing an MD-PhD program (it's a thing) at UNC Chapel Hill. The realllly nice thing about living here in the east is that it's close to all the cool spots I want to travel to particularly Europe, South America, other east coast cities (Boston, New York), and, probably most importantly, back home to California.
I love how Airbnb makes it easy, not just to find convenient lodging, but also someone to recommend you things to do as a local (rather than purely touristy stuff). Meeting the hosts and living in a home rather than a hotel is probably the most exciting part because it makes the travel experience much more personal and homey.
