My girlfriend, Sara, and I had a great stay at Stephanie's place. We arrived on the later side on a Friday night and had a nice conversation about work and life with Stephanie before we headed out to the Dutch Ale House for dinner. While it's a relatively small bar/restaurant, the food is delicious and the beer selection eclectic. Make sure you get one of the many types of burgers. (It's just around the corner from Stephanie's apt). The waiters are very knowledgeable about the beer selection and willing to allow you to taste them.
Stephanie's house is very charming and the room we rented was comfortable. The house is located in the heart of Saugerties which is about a 20min drive from Woodstock (to the West) and a 30min drive from Rhinebeck (to the South). After spending some time in a cute bookstore (Inquiring Minds) just around the corner from Stephanie's house -- the bookstore has a huge selection of psychology books but is quite lacking in other titles, especially if you compare it to The Strand in NYC, but, what doesn't? -- we got a bagel (yes, we Brooklynites love our bagels) just a short drive away and then drove to this lighthouse for a short hike. We spent the majority of the day in Woodstock which has a ton of jewelry shops and a nice chocolate shop. We took Stephanie's advice and went to dinner at The New World Cafe which is run by this chef who was on the tv show Chopped. The food was ok. Do not get the brownie sundae. It comes served as if it was prepared by a 5-year-old. While the food was nothing to write home about, the drinks were great, especially the Dark and Stormy. We think we should have gone to Miss Lucy's which is right around the corner from Stephanie's place. Very small and appeared charming, much more so than The New World Cafe.
We used Stephanie's jacuzzi that night even though it was cold out. Nice way to cap off the night. We headed back to NYC on Sunday after having a DELICIOUS breakfast at Love Bites. One of the best brunches we have had, even compared to NYC. Too bad we had to leave before alcohol was to be served at noon. The Bloody Mary's looked great.
On our way back to NYC, we stopped off in Rhinebeck and went to the Farmer's Market. As New Yorker's we're spoiled by the Union Square Farmer's Market, but we got some fresh Swordfish for our dinner that night. For you spiritual seekers, the Omega Institute is close by.
Oh, and Stephanie gave us delicious Bhaklava for breakfast our first day. So sweet, so delicious.
Stephanie is lovely - she's friendly, welcoming and a great communicator in terms of logistics and suggestions on things to do in the area. Her old house is charming and smack dab in the middle of Saugerties. This is a good option if you don't want to go with the overpriced B&B option, and if you value the interaction of the AirBnB experience.
I can't recommend Stephanie's place highly enough. This is a really cosy, clean and fully equipped flat, ridiculously close to Union Square. The building is secure with friendly doormen, has an elevator (the life saver) and the apartment is very quiet, since it's not facing the hustle and bustle of the 3rd ave. Stephanie is a friendly host in every way, easy to communicate. Besides she's a quick responder, not that we had problems. The wi-fi is fast, the kitchen and the bathroom clean, the bed is comfortable, so I can't think of anything more to say, except not to forget to check out her list of favorite restaurants. You can't go wrong.
Delightful house and host, and a great location off the main intersection in Saugerties. It's an easy walk to just about everything you need, and an easy drive to many nearby towns. I enjoyed staying in the house and exploring the area!
We felt very comfortable staying at Stephanie's, like home but it was exciting and different to give the feel of the vacation for my husband and I. The house and the room were described accurately. We were excited to have the experience of living in old historic home with all original details and enormous windows which I loved. Although old, rooms were clean, beautifully decorated and light filled. The bathroom is gorgeous, very cute decor. The house has plenty of very interesting antique items and furniture.
Stephanie is very welcoming, down to earth, knowledgeable host. She kept checking in with us every now and then to make sure we were ok and having fun. She was very helpful when we needed suggestions on where to eat, what to explore and where and when things were happening. Having said that, I'd like to note that we had plenty of privacy and quiet when we wanted it. She also cooked delicious breakfast for is on one of the mornings. It was very kind and accommodating of her to let us store fresh produce we bought at the local market in her fridge till the evening on the day of checkout, while we hiked and kayaked nearby.
Overall great experience. Highly recommended
We were looking for a place upstate to have a weekend retreat and this place fit the bill perfectly. (One note about Saugerties: it's the new artsy place where it seems like everyone is originally from the city, but with a laid back 'tudes, and all the stores/restaurants on Main Street are hip and citi-fied without NYC prices.) We were so comfortable -- the bedrooms had good beds (they're all new mattresses and on the firm side), there was a beautiful living room/dining room, even a cool bar, and a country kitchen with a huge Viking professional stove, new stainless steel fridge and new stainless steel dishwasher. There was no microwave oven, but we ended up not needing one anyway. The house is big, bright, airy, beautiful and historic, and the backyard has cozy seating areas and an amazing hammock that I actually fell asleep in for an afternoon nap. But the cherry on top was the sparkling clean hot tub. It was nice to come home after a day out and about to have a glass of wine and relax in the hot tub. Cleanliness is imperative for us and the hot tub was fresh and clear. The house is one block from downtown- there's a bunch of restaurants, outdoor summery-style bars and eateries. They were packed and had a good vibe. You can walk around town at night (it was one minute from our door) and check out all the different places before settling on one. In the evening we sat out on the nice front porch in new gliders watching the world go by. Stephanie was super easy to get in touch with and quick to help with recommendations and directions; other than that we never saw her. I noticed a fire pit in the backyard but we didn't have time to make Smores. Lastly, I have to mention the bathroom. Sometimes places have dark, small or older bathrooms. This place has a huge, totally modern, bright white luxury bathroom with granite countertops, new soaking tub/shower, and fixtures, and everything is new and clean. My pet peeve is vacation places that don't invest in decent bathrooms. So I love when they're luxurious. This place is great for a romantic vaca or relaxing girls getaway. We recommend this place and can't wait to come back.
We really enjoyed staying at Stephanie's. The apt is great, really cosy, spacious and fully equipped. And the building has elevator, which is such a comfort after a long day's walk! Being so close to Union Square, it was really easy and fast to move around. I highly recommend this apt. Stephanie herself was extremely kind and helpful. Communication with her was really easy, she gave us great suggestions and gave us the chance to accomodate check in and check out according to our flight schedule, so thanks again!

It was a pleasure to welcome Stéphanie even if it was for a very quick stop . Very good communication , very clean and respectful. We definilty recommand her as guest!
Great esperience. Great guest that we would warmly recomend to Anyone.
Stephanie es una chica muy agradable, simpatica y limpia. La recomiendo como huesped, me hubiese gustado conversar con ella mas tiempo, pero solo fueron pocas horas, aun que estoy encantada de haberla conocido
I'm glad you spend multiple days here! Sorry about the shortcomings you may have experienced in the last evening; I've already arranged a heating device, and if you ever come back to Porto, I guarantee you are entitled to a free night in the studio.
Best of luck in your journeys!
Stephanie was a polite and charming guest, and it was a pleasure letting her have my studio for a few days. She cleaned up after herself and was patient towards a couple minor shortcomings that happened on my end; great guest! If you're ever around Porto, don't hesitate to call me.
Stephanie was a great guest. She cleaned up after herself in the kitchen, is very easy going, friendly, respectful, and courteous. We made breakfast together and she was right there pitching in - which I very much appreciated! I enjoyed having her as a guest and I highly recommend her to any potential hosts!
Stephanie and her boyfriend stayed at my place for 4 nights , No problems at all ,and i would recommend them as guests.
Stephanie is GREAT! I've stayed in her Gramercy park apartment several times over the last few years and every experience was perfect. She has also stayed with my family in our house in Rio and she is great. The apartment is a typical manhattan U shaped studio in, what is to me, the best location in NYC. Nice building, friendly doormen, clean and a block way from everything you need.
Stephanie is the ultimate travel companion! She does her research beforehand which makes for an exciting adventure!
