My name is Jorge. I love to laugh, listen to new music, run, and engage in deep conversations about culture, history, power and social movements.
I'm currently a 2nd year Ph.D. student at Washington State University, where I teach intro courses to undergraduates and write about the intersections between sport, race and consumption. Being the first in my family to attend graduate school is not something I take lightly. Although I'm in my mid-20's, I feel the Academy has made me a whole decade older.
I love teaching because I get a joy out of seeing students learn and imagine the impossible. I ultimately want to become a university professor, where I can spend my days reading, writing and teaching about social (in)justice.
In my "free time" I enjoy cycling, watching movies (netflix binges), visit new places, and try out new recipes.
I try to live by "with great power, comes great responsibility", but I'll take batman over spider-man any day of the week.
