Milenko's room is very basic, but everything was clean, and as the pictures showed. He met us at the prescribed time and was easy to communicate with. We really enjoyed his company and his hospitality. We recommend to anyone who wants an affordable stay in Zadar.
The reservation was canceled 31 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We had a very nice time in Zadar. Not only because of the nice city, but because Staying at Milenkos Plays was just very good. We shared the falt with him. Everything was very clean an the bad was big an comfortable.
Milenko is a very colourful and friendly character who is very eager to please his hosts.
His place is just 10 minutes walk from central Zadar - the old city- and same distance from a lovely beach.
Milenko was a very nice host! He awaited us to bring us to his apartment, which is a simple but good place to stay, within walking distance to the old town and with airconditioning (which is very welcoming in the hot summer!). Milenko likes to talk about Croatia and told us many interesting stories, offered us to bring us to the beach and the airport. Wifi will be switched on if you ask for it.
Milenko has been a great host. He's nice, helpful and reliable.
- 10 min walk to the old town, 15 min to the nearest beach,
5 min to supermarket and bus stop
- Milenko gave us bath and beach towels
- Wi-Fi internet will be turned on if you ask for it
Milenko is a really friendly and helpful host. Despite changing our travel plans, he responded to us really quickly, was really cordial and agreed to pick us up from the bus station and took the bus back with us to the apartment. He showed me and my friend around town and showed us places to get food and free wifi (there is none in the apt). The space itself was spare and simple and we slept fine, even if it was a bit chilly at night (Milenko did provide extra blankets, though). We were only staying for a night, so it was fine for us. If you are looking for a very simple, no-frills, convenient place to stay, with a friendly and endearing host (yes, he does stay in the same apt, but in a separate room down the hall), then this may be a good place for you.
I know a lot of people have recommended this place but we had a somewhat different experience, partly due to the fact that there was no picture of the host.
I travelled with my young daughter to Zadar and we felt a little uncomfortable staying alone with an older man in the flat. I am a native Croatian speaker and Milenko immediately sensed that this was an issue and apologised and asked if we were going to go ahead and stay. Once you arrive you don't have a lot of options so we did. The bedroom smelt like someone had been permanently living in it - despite leaving the windows open the smell didn't go away while we were there.
There was no hot water when we returned the first night. The next day the fridge didn't seem very cold, the cooker only had one working electric burner, the other rings were gas and nothing looked like it was original and the elements didn't fit properly. There was hot water and after a two refills over the course of an hour - there was enough hot water for a bath.
The second morning the kettle and fridge definitely were not working. With the addition of power the fridge sounded like it started but the kettle didn't work. There was no wireless internet and a stick provided by Milenko didn't work with a Macintosh.
The final straw was Milenko talking to me at length while in my pyjamas at the door to our room about when we were leaving. It was 9am and I said we would collect our bags which were all but packed at noon. He said fine no problem. Five minutes later he said actually there were other guests coming that day and could he come in now and change the sheets. By then we were in the kitchen - the only other living area in the flat and I said yes fine.
I think the listing says there is a couch in the bedroom - but I didn't see one. Just two mattresses that I felt angle towards the middle of the bed.
Milenko is a really nice guy! Very friendly and interesting to talk to.
Good location, short walk into the old town.
Apartment was exceptionally clean, comfortable room and basic kitchen.
No internet / wifi but cafe near footbridge has a very good connection... and great coffee.
Milenko is very nice and pleasant. He told us funny and interesting things about zadar. The apartment is very clean and centric and the building shows traces of the recent past.
