Great Experience: I heard from Susan several times beforehand, making sure she had all the facts of our arrival and number of people etc.. Notes were left for us since we were coming in late, but we met them then anyway. The house is a charming, rustic old farmhouse. The rooms are upstairs in a separate wing: a double room, bathroom and single room. It was exactly what we needed: clean, basic. The real magic of the place though is the attention from Susan and Owen once you are there. They are warm, welcoming and helpful. Delicious breakfast with organic homegrown fruits and vegetables are included at a decorated breakfast table. Owen even fried up some of his own mushrooms. We are huge dog-lovers and Buster gave us a fix. I would highly recommend staying with these lovely people.
We stayed one night in the guest wing at the farm. Located in the country just outside Hamilton, the farmhouse was beautiful and we enjoyed our stay very much. Thank you Susan and Owen for making us feel welcome and for the delicious breakfast the next morning.
Thankyou Susan and Owen for a great stay at your farm. The afternoon and morning conversations were entertaining. We felt like we were visiting old friends. The room layout is comfortable and private. The breakfast was delicious. Very convenient to Colgate. Thanks again. We will be back
We really enjoyed our stay with Susan and Owen. They were very gracious hosts who were flexible even though I made changes right before the trip. The house was just as I imagined it and hoped for. The breakfast was perfect and they were even able to easily handle our special dietary needs and make us a yummy homegrown mushroom omelete to boot. We were impressed and felt well taken care of.
Susan and Owen were wonderful hosts and the setting couldn't be more peaceful and serene. Breakfast made from local produce and sources was always delicious and healthy, and morning chats over coffee were delightful. The bed and room were very comfortable and quiet, and the bathroom facilities were excellent. I wish I had more time to relax in the beautiful garden in back, where perennials were in full bloom and bullfrogs from the nearby pond were performing their love arias. Overall a great experience.
What an amazing place...and such welcoming hosts! The guest house was perfect...very comfortable and homely. Eclectic decor and secluded from the main house with your own entrance. Susan and Owen make incredible breakfasts with fresh and local ingredients (3 of which we made sure to buy and bring back to Boston with us!). Susan and Owen were gracious hosts and accommodated all of our needs. It was a very relaxing and laid back visit...just what we needed!
Susan and Owen were wonderful hosts. This is a beautiful historic home in gorgeous rural countryside of upstate New York. The comfy room and bathroom are in a separate upstairs wing from the main house and feel very private. Susan and Owen are available and welcoming but not at all invasive. Susan makes incredible breakfasts from all local ingredients-- not to be missed! We absolutely hope to return!
Susan, Owen and Buster (their dog) were great hosts and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. The space was cozy and clean and every necessity we needed or forgot was thought of!
Susan and Owen are wonderful hosts; gracious, warm, hospitable. The farm is a quiet, natural retreat. Hummingbirds and chickadees dart in and out of the feeders by the big farmer's porch - a perfect spot to sit and have your coffee in the morning. A chorus of frogs lines up around the pond where the geese are nesting. Just five minutes from Hamilton village, two minutes from Colgate campus, but so quiet and serene you'll think you're deep into the countryside.
Even Buster, the big black lab is a kind, gentle host. He generously shared his home and yard with my dog as if she belonged there too. A wonderful visit and I will be sure to come again.
Susan and Mr. T are wonderful hosts! The Guest Wing is perfect for three people traveling together and they were extremely accommodating with some special requests. Breakfasts were excellent and included fresh mushrooms grown by Mr. T. I hope to return soon.
