Response from Katie:
I’m very sorry to hear that your stay was not what you had hoped for. A few of the items you mentioned – age of the building, walking up the stairs, size of the apartment – are to be expected for a studio in Hell’s Kitchen. I try to add modern conveniences such as internet access when possible, but there are limits to what can be done in an apartment building.
The lack of cleanliness and unlocked door are inexcusable, however. I apologize for the inconvenience. As I am out of the country often I rely on another person to keep the apartment clean and ready for guests. This person has now been replaced. I will also check with the building manager about the security door.
I have also upgraded the kitchen amenities. Certainly the apartment is not designed for frequent cooking, but I do want my guests to be able to fix a quick meal if they are looking to save money.
Although I can no longer make your stay better, I did want you to know that your complaints have been heard and I am taking every available measure to improve the experience for future guests.
