We live in the house next door in this unique, romantic condominium known locally as the "Swiss villa" because it occupies the mountainside above the former Swiss-Brazilian School and was known to have a great number of Central European residents who appreciated the cooler climate and fresh winds on top of Santa Teresa, Rio's chic, artistic and bohemian neighborhood. Nowadays the condominium's 44 individual homes spread out along the winding path of the single-track traincar are home to a large number of local musicians who enjoy the close proximity to Rio's principal live music neighborhood, Lapa.
