Hi! I'm Sara and I am a teacher of itty-bitty kids! I have a home-based preschool during the week. I write and paint and love to hike the trails near my home with our beautiful dog, Greta. Mi casa es tu casa!

We enjoyed our stay at Sara's cottage. It was quiet, homey, and a beautiful setting. The cottage was easy to get to and close to shopping amenities. Many thanks to Sara.
My four year old daughter and I had a lovely stay. The house is cute and the yard is lush and beautiful (the perfect place to have a relaxing dinner). It's very quiet. The biggest bonus for us was the playroom full of toys and children's books. We loved staying here. Thank you.
My family spent the holiday week at Sara's. It was a truly wonderful experience, my first with Airbnb. The home was great. The 13 year old who stayed, decided she wanted a home just like it. Thank you Sara, for a great experience.
What a lovely home! This was the perfect location for a group of us (5 adults) to stay while in the Bay area for a friend's wedding. The house is very conveniently located by a grocery store/coffee shop/bakery which made cooking at home very easy. While there is a big, beautiful living room and lovely outdoor space, we spent the majority of our time around the breakfast table in the sun-room- such a wonderful space. Sara was very accommodating and easy to work with, she really made us feel at home. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone looking for a place in the east bay.
We absolutely loved our stay at Sara's Little Cottage in the Woods. Her house is set amongst the most beautiful plants and trees. It's very private, though on a residential street. The house itself is totally magical and charming--three bedrooms with lovely views out the windows, a spacious living room and a cozy kitchen with everything we needed. Most magical is the fact that the other side of her house is a pre-school filled with beautiful artwork and creative projects. We were so grateful to have such a homey place from which to enjoy a family wedding. We feel as though we really had a taste of California living!
The Cottage in the Woods was perfect for our family's stay in the Bay Area. Sara's home is absolutely magical. Her home's aesthetic was so charming and detailed, and the wooded nature of the lot gave us the feeling we were somewhere secluded and natural.
Three good beds meant all the adults in our party had a place to sleep. The two kids slept in a spacious living room (on an air mattress). The fully stocked kitchen made prepping meals easy--and not having to worry about buying staples was an absolute plus. (Plus French press and ground coffee, or tea.) Eating in the dining room was so lovely given the amount of windows in that room looking out onto all the woodsy greens of the yard. Lots of space for the kids to poke around, and bunnies, and chickens, and a Turtle Myrtle--AND plenty of toys for kids and babies: while the two kids built castles with wooden blocks, our toddler played with books, playsets, or the rolly tower that provided hours of amusement for babies and adults alike (it had us going for a solid hour, hah!).
Linens, towels, floors, counters, bathroom, rooms, etc., were impeccably clean when we arrived. There were clear instructions for everything--a plus. Sara left plenty of contact information, and was available when I called.
The area is lovely as well. Just near a park, great for playing, walking, and running. Down Lyman on Fruitvale you have a Peets Coffee, La Farine (an amazing boulangerie/patissere) and Farmer Joe's. Buses run frequently from this area to BART and to the airport (we used public transportation to get around). Over on Park you have another cute area to grab a coffee and have a walk around.
Overall, I highly recommend the Cottage in the Woods. I will definitely stay here again when traveling with my family. Great location, great accommodations, and great value.
From the moment we arrived at Sara's "Cottage in the Woods" we knew we were at the perfect vacation home for our family's Thanksgiving gathering. The unique layout, structure and decorations of the home gave an air of an English country cottage filled with warmth and cheer, a true home away from home. When we saw the child-care rooms filled with vintage 1950's toys (did we really live with so little plastic and so much wood, metal and cloth in our youth?) we knew our 2/12 year old grand-daughter would feel like she was walking into her personal wonderland. As she met and then daily fed and conversed with Myrtle the Turtle, fashioned shapes out of playdough, visited the rabbits and hens and sat on her own-sized chairs and on our laps to read from the extensive children's library we realized we could not be in a more perfect setting for a young child and her adoring aunts and uncles. The fully stocked kitchen, breakfast nook and outdoor dining table were perfect for our family meals. The cozy living room was ideal for our son-in-laws guitar and piano playing, our playing along on percussion instruments and many hours of family games we brought along and made up. The mater-bedroom was ideal for my daughter and son-in-law and their child -they had brought a daybed/crib and there was still plenty of room- the office/sleeping area was very comfortable for my husband and me and our youngest daughter wanted to transport back to her college the cozy single-bed room tucked away under the eaves. The location was perfect for picking up and dropping off relatives who were staying at another daughter's home in Oakland and at a local hotel and it was easy to drop off and pick up our youngest daughter at the Bart 5 minutes from the house so she could make her way into San Francisco to meet friends for a concert. We were about 10 minutes from Merritt Lake in Oakland where our daughter lives and another 10 minutes from Berkley where we explored the neighborhoods and then enjoyed a ferry ride into the San Francisco one day and a Bart ride another day, all very manageable short car trips from the cottage. Sara was so very easy to converse with in advance about my questions and even called on the first day to make sure all was going smoothly. It was a perfectly beautiful and magical holiday, I believe due in large part to our wonderful accommodations.
We had a wonderful stay at Sara's house. The neighborhood is quiet, the house is gorgeous with beautiful wood everywhere and great natural light, and Sara was very kind to us. I was pleasantly surprised to find a piano and guitar in the living room. I hope it's OK I played those a bit! We're also pleased that Sara allows dogs, since we don't travel without them.
Our guests Sara and James were very kind and friendly, the apartment was left tidy and clean. We were very happy to have met them and we hope they had a nice holiday with us.
Sara is a very good and nice host, very clear about details of her arrive in siena, and she takes care of the house respecting apartment 's roles.
