Beautiful area, cute bungalow, loved the shower! Kitchen really great too, swimming pool a treat. Boy those construction workers work hard though...11, 12 sometimes even 13 hours a day!! When we were there they didn't even take a day off over the weekend and they literally are right in your back yard. Does kind of become like white noise after not too long though. Very happy to have discovered the area - Arsa is a gem, thanks for sharing Oliver!
I spent 4 nights here, Oliver's a really nice guy and a down to earth, helpful host. the villa is great, relaxing, 2 minutes walk to the beach and some great waves. Highly recommend staying. I will certainly be back
Nothing to add, surfers best choice.
Oliver is very honest concerning the construction side. When i was there, there were three days where the workers startet at 07:00 and ended at 18:00 and this next to the place. So relaxing after surfing was not possible. The next two weeks (without workers) it was like paradise what you expect.
Also worth to mention, despite of the friendly host, his crew, the pool, ... , is that you are here in a very nice area of bali, maybe the best beachside. No one asks you here to give you a transport neither a massage, so you can just enjoy your visit.
Did you get some fun waves in medewi?
Did the car pick you up on time for the airport?
Stay warm back home, and come back and see us again!
A surfers dream shack near good waves. Cool bathroom. Recommend eating at the stall on the beach, and of course don't miss Oliver's great Yoga class.
Inexperienced swimmers take care in the water please, but enjoy the beach so close by! Thanks Oli!!!
Very traditional and very basic wooden villa set in a nice blossomed garden with banana trees and palms. No aircon, just a fan and a cold shower, but if you are looking for a traditional balinese style accommodation hidden away from the crowds then I would highly recommend Oliver's place. There is also equipped kitchen for your use, with fridge, which we used to store some fruit and drinks. We (me, my mother and my 4yo son) had an excellent 6 day stay and Oliver and his house manager Arsa are both excellent hosts who try their best to do whatever they can, to make the stay more pleasant. Oliver organised our pick up at the airport, which was very helpful and was on hand to give advice about local sightseeing places. Great surfing beach is just 1 minute walk and the private pool is an absolute gem. we felt very spoilt, especially my 4yo son loved the pool so much we couldn't get him out most of the days.
i had some really wonderful days in a typical balian house......i love this little house: a gift for an artist......
nice people around - which hepls in any case.....a great guide to come to the house and go back to the airport.....for me a place TO COME BACK ....thanks to everyone
Oliver is a good host , friendly and helpful. The house is like on the pictures , but the surroundings no longer match . Meanwhile, it is surrounded on all sides by houses , as in a backyard . The bit annoying , but by the opportunity to spend the day at the hotel pool , a relaxing time possible. Balian beach is really a lovely spot - just right, no crowds, but not the ass in the world . Much mosquito sprays bring !
It's a unique way to spend some relaxing days in Balian, a calm surfers village. The place is quite old and bit rustic and doesn't have an air con, but that wasn't a big issue for us. It is quiet and has a small pool and day trips can be organized, we went snorkeling to Menjangan island in north Bali which was a great experience. We didn't see Oliver much as he was traveling, but he seems to be a nice guy and we didn't experience any issues.
We enjoyed our one week stay in Balian Beach as was quiet and more relaxed than other areas in Bali. The bungalow was very close to the beach, a 5 min. walk. There are a few nice places to eat and hang out around the area as well. The bungalow was full of character and charm although the bungalow did not seem to be as bright as the pictures made it look. Also, not shown in the pictures, was a new development in front of the property that included a tall fence around the property that blocks any sea breeze making it quite hot and stuffy inside. There is a communal kitchen and a nice pool on the property that we were able to use. However, the pool in the pictures, which we had access to using anytime, is actually part of the hotel located on the beach that is a 5 min. walk away from the bungalow. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Balian Beach.
We stayed at magical Balian Bungalows for a few nights and loved the style, layout and position.theres 2 bungalows and ours had a queen size bed and a double both with mozzie nets, security box for storing money passport etc.great privacy as each bungalow is enclosed by gardens and rock walls,we left all the doors open for a cooler nights sleep and relied on mozzie net for protection-all good.We didn't meet Oliver as he was away for the time we were there but his go-to man was always somewhere around if we had any questions.bathroom is classic, light filled Balinese style plus theres a common kitchen with fridge and cooking facilities, really can't complain about anything except the fact it was booked out when we came back from a couple of days up north.Balian is a great place to stay,it is growing with a lot of building work happening but it still retains the bali feel i remember from the 80's ,great surf and Olivers is very comfortable at a very reasonable price, definitely be back-thanks
What a lovely family with such an adorable little girl Olivia who was the sweetest with my kitties . short but nice meeting you . I might see you one day soon at your bungalows .
