It is a shame that Erin (who I did not deal with at all during my stay) has decided to leave such negative feedback but I am not surprised as she had already threatened to do so to via private message unless a wrote a "glowing review" on her page (something I would have done anyway regardless, as Ralf is an excellent host). It seems she has unfortunately blown the whole situation out of proportion. I got on very well with the actual host Ralf and I thought we had left on reasonable terms. The ONLY correspondence she is referring to a short text from me in response to Ralf telling me they had entered the apartment to do some laundry (in the bedroom) while I was out. He asked if I was ok after the event and I simply said that I didn't think that was very cool and really he should ask for prior consent. I am sorry if she is offended that I answered honesty but I am not sure why that is such an unreasonable request. As Ralf is such a nice guy I would never have refused, if they had just asked. I think it is slightly arrogant to assume guests will be fine with the hosts entering the property at their convenience.
I have rented my property in the past (short and long term) and I would always ask my guests if they were ok with me picking up post etc. However I would not think it appropriate to let myself without a courtesy call or text to do my laundry when someone was paying around $1000 for 4 nights.
I hope any future hosts (or guests) can put Erin’s personal remarks aside, take an objective view and see both sides. I was not rude to Ralf but just to the point. I was working that day so I couldn't write a long response via text. I am sorry that Erin has taken so much offense but she is seems to be the only one with a problem. The actual host and I have moved on. Erin does not live in, or own this property, and I hope future renters get to deal with Ralf rather than her.
