Our group of six (three adults and three children) had a wonderful time here in the month of December when we stayed at Three Rivers while visiting Sequoia National Park! The setting of this beautiful riverfront property is absolutely beautiful and it was nice to walk along the river in the morning and relax next to one of the fire pits with a glass of wine in the evening. The apartment was clean and inviting. It felt as if you were at a friend's mountain cabin. Among the highlights, as stated in previous comments, are the helpful, accommodating and attentive hosts of the property. Although I did not meet Mars, she was very friendly, accommodating and helpful when I spoke with her prior to our arrival. Cheryl was so good to us and made sure to have a fire ready when we came back from the park and a s'mores treat for our group. Under their watch, we had everything that we needed and they immediately addressed any questions that we had. Our hosts definitely made us feel welcome and happy!
Regarding the apartment and how it accommodates a large group like ours: My husband and I travelled with our pre-teen children, his cousin and her teenage son and we did not have any problems with this space. Yes, there is one bathroom- but it has two sinks and is very spacious. If you organize yourselves (my husband and I wake up early so we got ready first, then our kids and then the rest in turns) then this is not an issue. As I mentioned earlier, it is like staying at a friend's mountain cabin so our large group did require some extra beds and some of the group had to share a room (there is a large master bedroom; large master bathroom; a huge living/sleeping area that includes a small refrigerator and an area with shelves and a counter space with a toaster, microwave and coffee maker; and a small dining area at the entrance) - but there is so much space that you still have plenty of room for sitting around playing board games, having a coffee while viewing the river from a window, making coffee and enjoying the apartment without feeling too crowded. It is a place to go with close family or friends and to enjoy the cozy feeling of sharing an apartment with them. We felt that this was part of the fun.
The apartment has an inviting, easy-going, cozy, mountain cabin feel that we enjoyed.
We hope to come back soon and see what this area is like in the spring or summer time!
Our host was very kind and made her best to welcome us. The place is cozy, clean but not possible for two couples due the only bathroom is into the main bedroom.
Wonderful. Our children begged to stay here longer too, no surprise after a day in which we saw bears and the biggest tree in the world just a short drive away, then swam in the beautiful river right outside our cabin before spending an evening toasting marshmallows and watching shooting stars. More like a hotel than most places on airbnb, the service was delightful and we really enjoyed our breakfasts. Really hope we can come again some time.
This place is a dream. Mars and team were very welcoming and the location by the river was perfect.
This cute little trailer is just steps away from the Kaweah River, with it's own little private area that is separate from the main house. Very nice touches like the breakfast table overlooking the river and the beautiful poppy garden. Also loved the breakfast treats that were left in the fridge each day. It should be noted that the pics of the trailer are not current - they have since done some really nice things with it, indoor and outside.
Great suggestion ... We will update photos!
River hideaway was exactly as advertised! a cute, quaint, private hideaway near the river. it was easy to get to as it was right off the main road and only a 10-15 min drive to the main gate of sequoia. The RV is down a path from the main house but far enough away that it feels more private than the rest of the rooms/outdoor areas outside the house. the river is right outside the RV. Since you are so close to the river, it is a bit loud at night so we had to close the windows of the RV at night so we could sleep at bit. This might just be the time of the year, however. There was an area that was calm enough to go swim in. We didn't get to that, but next time :)! It seemed a bit too dangerous for us this time around. Now, back to the accommodations. The RV has everything you would possibly need including tv, wi-fi, cd stereo (not that you need it or that we used it). Most importantly, you have your own space out in front next to the river. It is the perfect set up with a campfire that is all prepped with wood and a starter. There is also a grill to do a little cooking. Mars' even provides ingredients for smores and a little boxed breakfast that was left in the refrigerator. Always a nice little touch. We suggest going to a market near by and getting stuff to cook dinner and breakfast though. It was such a nice place to cook and relax before going to Sequoia. Overall, Mars was a great host. Easy to get a hold of and accommodating. She got back to us right away when we were interested in the hideaway which made it easy for us to make our decision on where to stay. We were greeted by another girl at time of arrival (name I am forgetting) but she was so warm, welcoming and informative. She gave us some great tips about Sequoia and helped us get set up once we had settled in. We really did feel like we had our own little private place. The only bummer is the fire has to be out by 10 due to fire regulations but that was the only downside to the entire experience, but we did not want to start any fires. :) We do wish we had more time to spend up there to explore more. We were only there for a night and recommend staying at least 2 nights. When we we do, we would stay here again in heartbeat. I think it is the best place in 3 rivers (not that i know of anything else). We will most likely be back and would 100% stay here again. Overall, it was an amazing (albeit quick) weekend experience but such a perfect LA getaway. Cannot wait to come back and see more of beautiful Sequoia national...
Showed up on a Saturday night and Mars' assistant got the campfire burning within minutes. The place was great and the location was second to none. Enjoyed a relaxing long weekend! I strongly recommend the hideaway to anyone looking for an EXCELLENT place to stay within minutes of Sequoia Nat'l Park! Thanks Mars
Well, when we arrived at Sierra Riverhouse, we were so upset...that we were ONLY staying 2 nights. Mars, Tommy, Cheryl and Cosmo made us feel so utterly welcome and couldn't do enough to make our stay truly magical. The setting on the river is incredible, peaceful and EVEN better than the photos, the room was perfect for us and had such character, clearly of a life well lived. My kids 5 and 8 fell in love with Cosmo, the dog and the experience is very high on the top 5 of an action packed californian trip. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rio River House, which we've been doing to everyone we met since leaving. There is no reason not to book, definitely the best place to stay. We loved it.
We had a fantastic stay and wish we could have stayed longer! Mars was a great host, she gave us a ton of recommendations to get around and get to see the best parts of the park. The apartment was beautiful, clean and spacious and the surroundings absolutely stunning. We'll be back, no doubt!
Cheri and her friend is a nice young couple, looking forward to have them back... Rolfe
