What was termed a 9 AM drop off of luggage turned into something else. The bathroom was in the process of being cleaned and was fully clean by the afternoon, what would be considered a normal check in time. The bedroom was clean on arrival at 9 AM, the sheets were absolutely clean. I also totally redid the room and switched in a double bed from a single to accommodate them. I will in the future not extend the early check in as a favor or drop off option but move it to later in the day for my convenience at the risk of this happening again. They preferred an early so they didn't have luggage in their car as they got on with the day. Not too many places allow a 9 AM check in. Quilts were neatly folded at base of the bed. A third quilt was still drying and was provided in the evening. I had a ten hour work day but had also gone out of may way to offer leaving work to meet them mid-day, or doing check-in at the end of the day. In fairness a ranch setting cannot be compared to a International California style hotel. This is why I provide a description that includes rustic and renovated barn. Smallness of the room was reiterated before arrival and is fully described in the listing description as a renovated barn. Clutter was some papers on the counter as I had just organized and sent my son off to college, after all I do live here, and some motorcycle parts out front from someone working on a dirt bike. Understanding of the environment comes from fully reading the description and guests responsibility for doing so, this is how good matches are made. As most of my reviews show, people generally appreciate the setting as the access point to one of the most beautiful national forests in the country including views out the living room window. Those looking for more urban accouterments are definitely better off staying at a Westin type hotel. Communication seemed contrary, and had I been informed I would have made an offer to refund them a night. The best rate at the Westin that night was 140., still more than my room, though with fees and cleaning about the same, but not "a lot less". Prior to check in I told Robert my larger room was taken but I would refund him the difference in the rooms, he said not to bother. He assured me that they were easy going and just wanted to be in this type of setting out of the Texas heat. This Colorado trip was their first stay through Airbnb, with a previous stay in the area before mine, and I've noticed that there is generally a learning curve as to being aware of all the information listings show on the Airbnb site.
