We are long time residents to this neighborhood (nearly 40 years!), older than we look or feel, and have truly enjoyed having guests stay with us. I am a true native New Yorker (born and raised on Manhattan), a photographer, artist, former musician, and professor at NYU-SPS. My long time roomie is also my Swedish ex-wife and is a fashion designer with her own store on fashionable Columbus Ave. And our new addition to the family is our nephew Isak who arrived from his home in Sweden (8/2014) and is here to go to college to become an economist. We are relaxed and easy to get along with and Swedish tends to be the second language around the house (although I have never learned it).

We have 2 rooms that we use for AirBnb guests, a very, Very, VERY small one, and a regular NYC size (read: small) one. The structure is 16 floors of fire-proof lofts originally built for light manufacturing, and now is a music-centric, multi-use commercial/residential address. As such there is a good deal the sounds of musicians rehearsing that is mostly a delight, and can be heard throughout the apartment, as well as lots of traffic thru the building. And since there are music stores, restaurants and clubs on the block (plus a police station on the next block) there tends to be steady street traffic as well, making this one of the safest places in the city. If you play guitar, we always have at least one acoustic hanging about for you to pick up, and I (Lawrence) love to jam!

The sound level at night from the outside is what you would expect it to be in the center of an extraordinarily vibrant and intensely packed "city that never sleeps," and is more so on the weekends when the nightclub (on the street level) is open (almost only Friday and Saturday). Yes, we always have ear plugs available.

Update December 2014: Vivi is leaving for her annual trip home, and will then be in Mubai to do her new production for 2015 before returning in late May.
