I am a designer working and living in Calgary, Canada.
My partner works for an annual music and arts festival.
Her and I both love music, food, the arts, micro-brewed beer & good coffee, vintage objects and traveling.
when in montreal you should not look further than marc's place! they are the best hosts you can imagine! the apartment is beautiful and they are wonderful engaging people! wish i had another trip to montreal coming up soon
Staying with Marc and Maud has been by far the best experience with air bnb we have had! Not only as a great experience in Montreal, but as a fantastic memory for our whole trip in north America.
The house is fantastic, very spacious, and so lovely. It's decorat
ed so nicely. It's also really well located in mile end, a great suburb to stay in.
We have also stayed in the old port area of Montreal at a hostel, and there is no comparison to how much better it was staying with Marc and Maud..
During the five nights we enjoyed some lovely chats, drinks and cooking. We would like to think that we became friends over the stay and would love to cross paths again with them.
We could reccomend them any higher to the entire air bnb community and strongly urge everyone to consider a stay here if your in Montreal.
Staying with Marc and Maud was my first Airbnb experience, I could not be happier with how well it went. Arranging the stay was quick and friendly - they were responsive to all my questions and I had confirmation right away. Their apartment was awesome and they even offered to paint a sample of the paint they have on the walls- it's such a good color! :) The apartment looks just like in the photos, there were so many cool vintage finds. The room I stayed in had an excellent vintage map of Canada - a great way to get oriented in a new country. The apartment is a tiny bit far of a walk to the subway, but the bus stops directly outside the apartment and goes straight downtown - and a plus, you get to see the neighborhood! Walking to the subway would be easy, but the bus was a better experience. Marc gave great directions to the market and surrounding places, they shared a personally designed map of Montreal with all the big spots pointed out, very cool.
Marc and Maud were super friendly while staying in their apartment. They told me where to find groceries and the best stores in the neighborhood (check out Drawn & Quarterly, I loved it!) They had delicious bagels and shared this great apple jam that a friend of theirs had made! Overall I was really happy with my stay there and wouldn't hesitate for a minute to stay again if I get a chance to go to Montreal again.
My girlfriend and I have been wanting to travel to Montreal since we met over 2 years ago. Finally we decided to go and found Marc & Maud's place to be the perfect retreat for our sojourn in Montreal.
Marc was attentive from the onset of our reservation. He sent me several helpful emails giving me directions to find the place. I had been concerned about not having access to (website hidden) maps via my phone and it was helpful to have written directions.
Marc & Maud have constructed a visual masterpiece that is both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional. In a lot of ways, it's the model for how couples can live harmoniously in an urban apartment.
Upon arrival, Maud looked through our list of recommended places to eat, see and do. She cautiously struck a line through venues that were either tourist traps or weren't worth the money, and reiterated the greatness of some others. Maud has extensive experience with all restaurants of Montreal at all budgets.
As a fellow coffee geek, I appreciated Marc's mutual love for the black gold. He made coffee for us every morning we were there and engaged us in pleasant conversation before we left to see the city.
I cannot recommend Marc & Maud enough as Airbnb hosts. They provided us a warm and friendly home away from home in a city that can sometimes seem quite foreign. I would go back just to hangout with them!
Marc's apartment lived up to its very stylish profile.
Firstly: Marc has a terrific design sensibility and it is a pleasure to stay in his homage to forward thinking coolness.
Secondly: Marc and Maud were delightful hosts and provided us with all the creature comforts we needed.
Thirdly: Marc shared great ideas - an excellent neighborhood self designed map through to his personal blend coffee.
Fourthly: Mile End is a great neighborhood with low key cafes, and emerging artists. We really appreciated the gentle walks to multiple other locales that offered both high culture and more up and coming tempo.
And lastly: Accessibility, Marc's Heart of the Mile End BnB is perfectly located for getting around on foot, BIX bikes, bus, metro and even the hire car we arrived in.
All up 5 stars for this brilliant BnB.
Marc and Maud were fantastic hosts. The apartment was beautifully decorated, and clean, and is located in a great neighborhood. They both offered helpful suggestions, and have a great map with restaurants and bars in the area. Marc is also great baker, he whipped up an excellent banana bread, and the bagels were great too! Highly recommended, and I hope to see them around NY!
Marc and Maud were great hosts. The apartment is gorgeous and clean, the location can't be beat, and warm bagels and coffee were served in the morning!
I would highly recommend Heart of Mile-End.
Marc et Maud c'est tres bien! They were extremely welcoming, from the moment Maud hopped in our car to help us park! They made us very comfortable during our stay, as we were provided all the amenities we needed - including a very comfortable, private room. Both were enthusiastic about their city, and had endless suggestions for restaurants, venues, and means of transportation around the city...and we thank them once again for helping us experience the nooks and crannies of Montreal! We're happy to have made new friends and have no doubt that others who stay with them will feel the same! Merci boucoup, m&m! ~Eric and Jake.
Marc is a charming, friendly host. He and Maud share a really lovely apartment that they've furnished and decorated in mid-modern style, with lots of neat touches. The room is comfortable and Marc makes a great cup of coffee! They live in a cool neighborhood, good restaurants and decent shopping nearby, and decent transportation to downtown. They were really helpful for me to find some cool art galleries that I didn't see listed in my guidebook. I would stay there again.
Marc & Maud were great hosts.
The map of Montreal they drafted with places to hit - used it. The dumplings they cooked - ate it. The room they presented - slept in it... comfortably.
Would highly recommend this place, and location for people who want to visit Montreal like a local..
Thanks again for being so accommodating.
Marc and his travel companion were the perfect guests. Warm, friendly, considerate and respectful. They were super easy guests and left the place just perfect. I would definitely like to have them again should they get to Portland. I'd highly recommend Marc as a guest. sheila
Marc was a great guest. He and his girlfriend kept there things tidy, which makes us happy. They are fun and easy to talk to and get along with. I only wish we had more time to chat with them, because they are great people! It was super meeting them both.
Friendly, nice guy. Wish I could have gone out to see his events at NXNE
Marc is a wonderful host. He goes above and beyond to help make your stay in Montreal feel magical. Great knowledge of nearby cafes, restaurants, shops, etc.. plus an excellent source for local happenings in the vibrant music scene. Couldn't ask for a better host in Montreal!
Marc has all the things you could ask for in a travel companion, house guest or host. He's warm and funny, respectful and generous, he has great stories and ideas to share, he knows how to have heaps of fun, and he loves to cook awesome food. Also, his pad is rad!
