I am a young professional who makes time for gallery hopping, trampolines and delicious food. I love having friends over to enjoy my space with me, and my style of traveling is last-minute adventure!
Lauralee exemplifies why I love Airbnb so much: her apartment is wonderful, and she made us feel like her own guests. We walked in to her sunny space, which is well-represented by the photos, and found freshly baked chocolate cookies and a bottle of wine awaiting us on the coffee table. It was snowing outside, so we immediately lit a small fire, stretched out with our glasses of wine on the cowskin rug, and enjoyed the space. You simply cannot ask for a better location: Union Square is a block away, and literally everything you could want is within a 3-block radius, yet in the morning, the street outside is incredibly quiet. I think it's actually the quietest place I've ever stayed in NYC. Whole Foods and the Union Square Farmers Market are a 2 minute walk, Jivamukti Yoga (the reason I was here for the weekend) is right around the corner, as is a major subway hub, and not-to-be-missed gems like The Strand bookstore, ABC Carpet and Home, and the Green Market on the corner of 3rd Ave. We are vegans, and could NOT have loved this location any more from a bounty-of-food-options point of view.
A few practical points:
* The bed is very comfortable. I was afraid from a few of the reviews that it would be *too* soft, but it's lovely.
* The shower has great water pressure
* This is the perfect place to stay for a couple
* Location cannot be beat
* Having a fireplace totally made our weekend, as it was coooold and snowy! What a huge bonus
* Lauralee is clearly a special soul, and the energy in her apartment feels so welcoming and warm.
Definitely will be staying here again, hopefully many times. Thank you, Lauralee!
Lauralee makes a wonderful space to stay. Of course, the location is fabulous-a block from Union Square and subway lines. We had fires in the fireplace, her apartment is filled with artful touches, and she provided passes to the gym on the next block. Lauralee was a gracious, helpful, and quickly responsive host. Highest recommendation!
Apartment was clean and as represented in photographs, It is in a very good location with easy access to the Subway and lots of stores and restaurants. We felt very safe walking everywhere in the neighborhood. Bed and pillows were a bit soft to my liking but that may be a personal preference. Lauralee was very accommodating to our arrival and departure times, A terrific experience overall. Really made our stay in NY one to remember.
Lauralee was a terrific host and her apartment was just what we were looking for. In fact, if I were to move to New York I would love a place just like hers! Not only is the place located in one of the best neighborhoods in NYC (especially when blizzard Nemo came along) Lauralee has created a space that is serene and peaceful. We loved wrapping up our days with a fire in the fireplace, and the three of us had plenty of room without being on top of each other. The only feedback that others might want to be aware of is in most NYC buildings the heat is controlled centrally, not in the unit itself. This means the building was kept warmer then we are used to especially at night, a crack of the window solved that issue. Lauralee's guidebook on the AirBNB site is great, we went to several places on that list as well as the suggestions she made to me via email. There is no doubt in my mind we will be back here again, and Lauralee is a joy to work with. Thank you Lauralee for making our stay to NYC sheer perfection!
We arrived to an airy and very clean apartment, with bouquets of fresh purple roses. The apt has fun art on the wall. Great space for a single or couple (if you can share a full size bed).
We were not sure where to find a few tings upon arrival, but Lauralee was easily accessible and quickly answered all of our
questions. She was warm and welcoming. It hit mid 90's and humid when we were there. The air conditioner was completely sufficient in keeping us very comfortable.
Location is amazing. Its a quiet block, and just a a few steps from the buzz of the village and union square. Whole foods /
trader joe's both within 3 blocks... Our favorite discovery was Sunburst cafe on 3rd and 18th. great baked goods and lunch menu. (we had a picnic bday party for our daughter and got amazing cupcakes from them).
The main issue we had was that there really were not any drawers or hanging space. I think Lauralee would probably be willing to rectify this for future guests - but might want to ask about it.
Laurelee's place is amazing! We stayed for two weeks during the holidays and had an incredible time. Lauralee is extremely nice and helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. And the apartment is clean, organized, stylish, and in one of the best locations in Manhattan.
