Among many other passions, we're passionate about taking care of the great outdoors because it takes care of us!
Amazingly beautiful farm and very welcoming hosts. We really enjoyed our stay and are planning to come back in the spring or summer to see the flowers. Thank you!
Every time we said “Well, it can’t get any better than this” it got better! Fox Hill Farm was the perfect escape from the city. Catherine & George were great hosts - not to mention the kids and cast of adorable animals. Walking around the grounds of the farm you’ll find endless opportunities and enjoy everything around you. The town of Honesdale is just as nice as the farm itself. One of the birthplaces of the American Railroad, full of culture, history AND $1 ice cream cones!!! We’ll definitely be coming back for another stay.
My husband and I are just back from a simply wonderful weekend in Flower farm cottage. The long weekend was everything we wanted from a few relaxing days in the countryside - just perfect!
Katharine and George did everything possible to make sure we had a truly great time, and we are very grateful to them for their extremely kind and welcoming hospitality. As other reviewers have already said, the farm-fresh breakfast is divine - a fabulous start to the day! But beyond this, they went out of their way to help us throughout.
The cottage itself has everything you need to feel comfortable and to be able to self-cater. We were able to buy fresh produce from local roadside stalls, and enjoyed watermelons, peaches, apples and tomatoes. The farm is beautiful, and we had fun walking around, saying hello to the animals and flowers.
Locally, we went on a great hike and enjoyed rafting at Narrowsburg - recommended by Katharine and George. We were also lucky that our stay coincided with 'Pig Mountain' - a feast, served up by local farmers and restaurants. Another evening, we barbecued and roasted marshmallows by the pond.
Thank you for such a brilliant weekend. We really cannot recommend staying here enough!
Oh, and also worth noting that you can get married on the farm, too! A beautiful rustic countryside setting!
Picture-perfect farm! We stayed for a few nights while attending a friend's wedding down to road. The farm is not too far out of town, but was hidden off the main road in a picturesque setting. There were blooming wildflowers all over the property, and the landscaping (done by the owners themselves) was lovely. It was fun to stay on a working farm. We got to play with the farm dog and cat, and see the chickens, guinea hens, and rabbit. The cattle were further out in the pasture, and we had to leave for the wedding, so we didn't get to see them.
The cottage was very clean and comfortable, and came stocked with towels and toiletries. I suggest picking up a bottle of local wine and some cheeses- there's a set of wine glasses, plates and silverware in the small kitchenette area. In the morning, we were offered a breakfast of farm-fresh eggs and locally-made pumpkin bread. Our hosts were very nice, helpful, and quick to respond to my email questions. Before we left on our way home, they offered to lead us to a local farmer's market, which was great fun. I would stay here again in a minute. I'd love to see the area in a different season.
The short summary: if you want a retreat in the Pennsylvania countryside and are fine with the presence of animals and absence of technology, staying at this excellent place is more than worth the trip!
My wife and I stayed here for one week. The place is phenomenal--even bigger than in the pictures, so long as you have 2-3 people--both inside and out. Indoor amenities are just as listed; outdoor amenities like pure air and wonderful views are harder to quantify but splendid. The dog is quite friendly, the roosters not too loud and the cows don't mind you walking the path between pastures.
The place is decorated tastefully and easy to stay in. One of my favorite amenities is the limited phone and Internet service! It's very relaxing to unplug. (If you really need connection, there is good cell service in town and the local library has computers you can use for $1/day.) The bed is so comfy that you want to sleep in, but trust me: it's worth getting up for the delicious breakfasts with farm-fresh eggs and milk.
The cottage is near the main farm house, and the family is very friendly & helpful. Katherine was prompt in answering messages and even made arrangements so we could bring supermarket food inside and save money on our trip.
It's somewhat of a drive from any major city, and you definitely need a car even to get into town [4.5 miles], but that was part of the break from busyness my wife & I sought. We hope that others can enjoy this great place almost as much as we did and would love to come back someday!
We had an amazing weekend at the farm with Catherine and George! They were wonderful hosts, preparing us breakfast and inviting us to come join a party they were having at their barn during our stay. The farm was perfect for a weekend away from the city, quiet and off the beaten path. We would most certainly recommend others to go stay!
A perfect little cottage in the country on a lovely farm that you can walk around. Warmly decorated, gorgeous and delicious breakfast. Helpful hosts, clean, cozy and charming. I will definitely go back.
Highly recommend this beautiful B&B. Off the beaten path flower filled quiet and secluded. The hosts were extremely helpful, generous and attentive. The Cottage has everything one might need for a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
We went to the Brown's for our anniversary weekend and had an amazing time. This was both mine and my partners first airbnb experience, and we were worried things wouldn't be as they seemed online, but the place is even more beautiful than the pictures lead you to believe! The cottage is adorable, well set-up and super clean and comfortable. Our hosts were so kind and accommodating and we had a wonderful, wonderful time and are already planning our next trip.
We loved our weekend away from the city in the flower farm cottage! We spent a lot of time walking around the farm, enjoying the animals, and just hanging out. Time slowed down and it was just perfect. The outdoor space is even more amazing than you can see from the photos here - with a beautiful big barn, a lovely little lake and woods nearby. All fun things to explore. We were served a delicious breakfast underneath the awning both mornings and thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with our hosts. They were generous and interesting, fun to talk with. They recommended nearby places for us to visit, and really enjoyed the surrounding area as well.
