A backpacker loves travel around the world would like to host all the visitors from around the world. I am vegetarian. I love movie and music. My favorite sport:tennis
Huang is a very nice person, i really enjoyed staying at his place and his company and advices on the city have been great and helpfull. I will definitely return to his place if possible. The area is really nice, very well located, quiet and near from the metro. Go for it!
Huang is a very friendly host. He picked me up from the office (near the Garden Hotel), and we walked in 5 minutes time to his apartment. (read: the house is situated in the center of Guangzhou). Huang is very conscious about food. He imports rice from Thailand and during his travels he is always looking for organic food. From his house he runs an online shop for this organic food, which he imports from all over the world. Since I'm in China to import European food, we had a lot to talk about. Moreover Huang is well informed of restaurants and nightlife in Guangzhou. Unfortunately I was too tall for the Chinese bed, therefore I stayed only 1 night. My stay was short but concluded with a good continental breakfast, served by Huang.
Raymond was the best host, walking us to his apartment, arranging transportation, suggesting great eating locations and helping us out with translations from time to time.
The rooms are really nice, they all have a night stand, outlets for western products, lamp, headphones, their own AC and a place to hang your clothes. Everyone in the household shares a shower/bathroom. Just what you need to get by. He also provides a laundry service for a small fee.
His apartment's location is really good, a very short walk to Guangzhou Friendship Square and one of the fanciest areas around. He's centrally located, usually a 15-20 minute taxi to get to anywhere.
It was a wonderful stay in Huang's apartment. The apartment itself is nicely decorated, the beds are comfortable, hot water, etc... everything you need is there PLUS western breakfast and a caring host. Huang and I had a lot of interests in common and I enjoyed our talks about health foods. Actually, I came for a fair on health food and he spontaneously decided to come along. I had a great time!
Raymond (aka Huang) is WONDERFUL.
He lives in an apartment building in a great location- the rooms are very simple, but include everything you need. Raymond will meet you at the airport and accompany you back to his place via subway. He is really knowledgeable about his area (which has lots of restaurants, shops, etc) as well as other great sites around the city! I had to arrange accomodations and activities for a visiting group of volunteers, and he made extremely helpful suggestions.
There is a shared bathroom- the facilities are older, but the shower is nice and hot! Raymond also has a really fancy washing machine/dryer if you need to do any laundry for cheap! Breakfast is coffee/tea, bread with jam, and cereal- Raymond will also invite you to try just about anything he's eating (always delicious!) and will answer any question you ask. His apartment is close to the subway, so it's easy to visit any place you'd like.
Raymond has a genuine interest in his guests and it feels much more like you're visiting an old friend than staying with someone you've just met. I will definitely stay with him again if I make it back to Guangzhou someday- it was a pleasure!
