A great condo in an area with some real gems for dining within a few blocks walk. Within 10 minutes walk you are on King street with all the shops. The living area is ample and bedrooms are quite large along with an updated kitchen that has everything you need. Only thing we missed out on was the tub not functioning which made bathing our baby a little cumbersome (holding while showering ourselves!). Josh was very responsive and did everything he could to get a plumber there during the stay. The only thing to be aware of is the maintenance on the outside of the building being done, or not done (we were there for 4 days and there is no work being "done"). There are temporary boards holding up porches, and railings in disarray with makeshift 2x4s, and patchwork plywood covering rotted boards. It makes for a gloomy entrance, but once inside, everything is clean and functioning. Don't be scared away, you will love the condo, once inside!! Great having washer/dryer in the place as well.
The condo is very nice, no surprises. The kitchen is well appointed with SS appliances. The bathroom is roomy and has been updated. The neighborhood is very nice and an easy walk to nice restaurants and shopping on King St. Josh made some great restaurant recommendations and we had some great meals. We walked everywhere and had a great time.
We had a very good experience. Josh provided plenty of information and specifics in advance of our trip to help acclimate us to the apartment and neighborhood. The interior of the apartment was clean, comfortable, and nicely done with lots of interesting books and artwork in the living room. The image of the living room on the listing made me feel like it might be a bit cluttered but it was really not. Well equipped kitchen. Our bed was comfortable. We had to text Josh only twice during our trip and both times he responded right away. The only complaint I could possibly make is that the steps/deck leading to the apartment were a bit shabby (and being repaired in one spot, which Josh had alerted me to.) This makes for an initial impression of more shabby than chic. However, seeing the nature of the houses and buildings in Charleston, it ended up feeling like part of the charm. Also, as I mentioned, it seems like the repairs being made will help. But upon opening the door, we were relieved to see the lovely apartment as described.
What a wonderful condo! Very clean, cool decor, great location, and off-street parking. We were able to walk to so many great restaurants and shops. Very comfortable and easy stay. I would stay here again!
This was the perfect "home base" for a recent trip to Charleston for a friend's wedding. Josh's condo is in the heart of a very cool neighborhood and within walking distance to 3 or 4 AWESOME restaurants (he will send you recommendations). If you prefer to do some shopping on historic King Street, it is a bit longer of a walk (though still totally doable) or literally a $4 Uber ride. Location can't be beat.
The unit itself is very cool. Tastefully decorated and super comfortable.
Lastly, as a host Josh could not have been easier to work with. He was incredibly responsive prior to our stay and had everything perfect for our arrival. We did have a minor incident on our second night (a crying puppy above us was keeping us up), but despite being in another country when I texted him, Josh quickly remedied the situation for us by contacting the neighbor and even offered us a refund for a portion of our visit.
If I ever return to Charleston this is where I will stay.
Strongly recommend this welcoming apartment. It has been stylishly decorated providing comfortable and warm accommodation. It's located in an interesting part of town packed with innovative restaurants and just a gentle stroll to the historic district.
Prior to our visit, Josh sent a very nice and thorough email with details of his place and restaurants we should try. Not much contact during our stay, but we felt he would be available if needed. Nice apartment in a great location. A good walk to the "action" but so much going in this neighborhood, that we hardly felt the need to leave. My only complaint would be the noise of the neighbors above us. We could hear every footstep and bed creak throughout the night. Overall, a great visit to Charleston.
How wonderful to be so close to King Street and other favorite spots off of Rutledge. Thank you Josh for your upbeat candor, your love of oysters and comfortable beds!
Our Charleston rental was perfect! I loved the location a little off the main drag and an easy walk to all the coolest restaurants in town. The apartment was clean, cozy and even cuter in person. We would stay here again in a heart beat!
I agree with all of the other positive reviews so I'll provide some more detail for folks who are looking for more details.
- I have a really high bar for cleanliness. Josh's place was very clean and well organized.
- There are two bedrooms on either end of a hallway with the bathroom and kitchen / living area in between. The kitchen has an open breakfast bar like window to the living room. The apartment is big by NYC standards.
- The central heating worked well, particularly so we could turn it down/off since it was unseasonably warm in December.
- There are helpful appliances like a 12 cup coffee maker, an in-unit washer and dryer, and a dishwasher. The linens and towels are higher quality and I felt comfortable using them. (I had brought my own just in case and didn't need them.)
- The porch has a nice glass-top table and 5 chairs (perfect for morning coffee).
- The apt is about 15 min walking from downtown (20 if strolling) and is both close to downtown but not in the middle of the touristy areas.
All in all, it was a lovely place for two couples to spend new year's eve.
Josh and his friends leave the flat in very nice way, they was very discret, very charming, very rispectfull, i can advice to everybody to rent their luxury flats or properties. Best REgards.
