I love spending time outdoors. As an introvert, I gravitate towards wild places and consider myself an avid hiker and neophyte trail runner. At the same time, I believe that broadening one's perspective is important and therefore am trying to better expose myself to different cultures and backgrounds. In general, I value really seeing and understanding a place over checking off some guidebook's list of must-visit attractions.
When I'm not traveling (which is, unfortunately, the vast majority of the time), I work as an engineer at a small to mid-sized optics manufacturer. Outside of hiking and running, my main hobbies are cooking and homebrewing. I prefer music (singer-songwriters, folk rock, and classic rock) and books (I've tended towards sci-fi/fantasy and non-fiction for most of my life but have recently been getting into broader fictional genres) to movies and TV shows and I'd rather spend a quiet night sharing good beer and deep conversation with a small group of people than attend a large party.
