Anne greated us and showed us to a beautiful room. She provided the provisions for our choice of coffee and biscuits. For an additional fee we enjoyed a tasty breakfast.
Hi Margaret ,
Thank you for your lovely review.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Firstly we were not happy with the ‘extra’ payment in cash of 10 euro for electricity we were told we needed to pay on arrival.
When we contacted the host she informed us that she had decided to move us 'to another property'. We had specifically wanted the property we had chosen but reluctantly we agreed. The host had made no effort to inform us of this change, and it only came to light when we rang ahead to ask for directions.
We were not given directions to the changed property, but we were told to find the Kentucky Fried Chicken store that was on the road into town and wait there to be contacted. We had to make several calls to find this KFC store as the directions over the phone were extremely inadequate.
When we were finally met we were taken to the 'changed' property. We were asked whether we had our own towels, and when we asked about promised Wi-Fi internet we were told there was none. The property had dirty carpets and was not of the normal high standards of most AirB&B properties.
We were then told that there was nothing in the house by way of breakfast foods (or any food for that matter) and that we would have to walk to the local Aldi store to buy our own breakfast provisions.
The reason we had to walk was because the property was behind an electric gate and that the host only had one remote control. If we took our car out of the compound we would not be able to return. We were then told that we could borrow the remote control as long as we paid an 80 Euro deposit. Finally after much negotiation and expression of annoyance on our part the host agreed to allow us to have the remote control.
We were given a key to lock the front door, but when we tried to leave the property we spent 15 minutes trying to lock the door from the inside and from the outside, but to no avail. In the end we had to leave the door unlocked so that we could return later.
Whilst we were away eating dinner the host returned to the property and then rang us to reprimand us for not locking the door. She would not accept that the key would not lock the door.
The host came around to the restaurant where we were eating to check whether we had the right key. At that point we expressed our complete dissatisfaction with the whole booking, with the poor service, with the ‘under par’ property, lack of towels, lack of internet, and she suggested that maybe we should cancel our booking if we were so dissatisfied. We agreed and handed back the key she had given us and the remote control for the gate.
Since then Anne has refused to cancel our booking so that we would not be charged and refused to refund our money.
