I'm an embedded design engineer from the San Diego Area. I did my undergraduate work at MIT and my graduate studies at UC/Berkeley. At MIT I was a circuit hacker, but at Berkeley I got enamored with seismology and earthquake prediction, so I switched from electrical engineering to seismology. So in another life I was a seismologist, but now I'm back to engineering.
I love the San Diego area and its precious environment - that's why I'm on my city's Environmental Commission. That's why I'm also concerned about climate change, and why I like taking advantage of our benign climate by being an avid cyclist.
I'm a pretty quiet person - not much of a party-goer, mostly vegetarian (for many reasons, including health, ethics, environmental, responsibility), pretty much a teetotaler. I'm a pretty neat person at home, and when not at home, I always respect my hosts.
For me, a large part of travel are the opportunities to see new and different places. I'm a pretty active photographer ((website hidden) and (website hidden)?/category/86) and new locations bring new photo ops. Therefore, if I'm not at home, I usually don't want to spend time in a hotel room or apartment - I want to be out and about.
That should give you an idea - I'm an easy guest.
