A quaint small cottage surrounded by fields and a stretch of forest, almost in the middle of nowhere, lost in time; the air after the rain is fresh and fragrant; the silence is full of birds’ songs.
If you look to cut yourself for few days from the hectic pace of life, if you look to slow down and take stock of the simple life this is the place for you, otherwise forget it.
Steen was very welcoming with his Italian ancient “torta” and the tee; he provided us with plenty of information.
Junior made our stay outstanding; if you like dogs he will bring you joy and laughter.
Grazie Steen.... e Junior...
If you enjoy delicious reasonably priced meals, a lovely dog that will adopt and love you, and a private cottage in a beautiful country setting, then Steens place is for you.
Lovely location, very quiet with an excellent view. Steen was a very nice host and welcomed us with cake and tea. I can highly recommend the optional breakfast as well, very good start of the day.
Our accommodations were also good. The beds were excellent and the facilities were all in order. We only spend one night but we wish we could have stayed longer.
As the other reviewers have said, Steen is wonderful. His cooking is excellent, and recipies will be shared. We were surprised on the evening of our arrival with homemade chocolate cake and tea. The location is beautiful and relaxing. Steen was like a funny, wise Danish grandpa to two young travellers. Thank you for the magical stay!
We had a great stay at Steen's annexe. Not only did he (and his labrador Junior) make us feel very welcome, but his cooking was superb and it was great to return to a home-cooked meal after a day's travelling or start a journey with his beautiful breakfast.
Steen var en sød og meget behjælpelig vært. Og sikke en skønt sted. Som Steen selv siger, paradis nr 2.
Nice house in the forest, with big rooms and a retro ambiance. Having dinner under the dim yellow incandescent light, with smooth jazz playing on a vintage record player, it felt like we were in a country hide-out from some 60’s Alain Delon movie (if it was raining outside it would have fitted the scene perfectly). Very cool! Junior the dog is intelligent and friendly, we had lots of fun playing with him. Steen is a kind and generous host, full of good advice on travel planning, and we greatly enjoyed his excellent home made cake and jam, along with his interesting conversation. Overall, a wonderful place to stay.
I spent two days in the annex of Steen's lovely old farmhouse on the West coast of Jutland on my way back to the UK, and very much enjoyed our conversations and the meals. I can see I'll have to use fennel and coriander seeds in my jams and bread from now on - an interesting additional flavour.
The weather was perfect and I had some lovely walks in the forest (scavenging for windfall apples), along the riverbank and across the fields in the company of Junior who knew exactly where to lead me.
In the evenings I lit some candles and listened to some 78's on the old record-player - very cosy.
The drains in the bathroom were a bit smelly and I hope he will be able to fix them, but everything was very clean and the bed comfortable. Thank you Steen!
