we had a bit of a tough start since the visitors prior to us left the bed broken, and I mean BROKEN. we told James and he offered us to go out for a drink on him while he fixes it, so we went out for two hours and magic! it was fixed
James is a great host and made us feel very welcome. We really loved the location and as far as that goes it was perfect! Please be advised, however, that parking is an issue in this location. During the week, you'll have to park in a parking lot/deck and it is not cheap. It'll cost you the least about $39 a day minimum. You can park on the street but you will have to feed a meter with the exception of Sunday. Sunday it is free.
I did feel that the place could be a little cleaner, but most importantly, that the bed doesn't fall apart. Unfortunately, upon my wife trying to clean the bed, the front board of the bed completely fell causing my wife to do a 360 and fall flat on her back. Luckily, she didn't suffer an extreme injury, but her back still hurts and she got several minor bruises. You cannot see it on the picture, but the bed is sitting on books and dumbbells.
Also, another thing that was an issue was that the AC leaks water as well. So we had to place a towel there that was soaking wet once we left.
Other than that, everything else seemed to be okay.
The location is very convenient. Check-in time is flexible.
James was a responsible host. He always reply soon my questions, and also he left the apartment in good conditions. The doormans' building are so kind and polite.
The locations is perfect and easy to access and reach any place.
This location is dead center in the middle of Manhattan. It's walking distance from Time Square, Radio City, Broadway, the UN Plaza, The Empire State Building, Central park, great restaurants, and more. A short commute on the subway, or taxi takes you to the piers that have ferry service to the Statue of Liberty. From Midtown, you can take a subway 15 minutes to get into Brooklyn!
You will be hard pressed to find a better deal for a studio in Midtown Manhattan.
James is easy to get a hold of my text, and addressed my questions in a relatively timely manner.
I would definitely stay there again.
I will write this revue as if I one of my daughters wanted to stay in the apartment. The location is perfect to nearly everything in Midtown Manhattan. Walking distance to a market and felt very safe. The doormen were very friendly and helpful. The layout is very nice, very open and inviting.
The smoke alarm was beeping due to low battery. I tried to reach James to determine if the alarm was connected to a central system. No response, so I took the battery out. No big deal.
The only issue with the apartment was cleanliness, especially the bathroom and kitchen. I had to clean the apartment without benefit of proper cleaning materials, not even paper towels. Boxes were stacked in the kitchen floor, along with trash. I washed the coffee maker, but did not trust the cup. The bathroom was beyond unacceptable, a bottle of bathroom beach type cleaner was made available, but no rags or sponges. And I will add, being from the South and considering myself a guest in his home, I brought James a basket of hotel shampoos, conditioners, lotions and soaps.
The pillows and linens were questionable at best. They did not appear to be anywhere near fresh or recently washed.
I did not want to violate the privacy of someone's home, thus I only cleaned the surface enough to allow me to sleep.
I took before and after photos, the after photos are for his use.
Would I recommend the apartment, would I stay there again? I am a tad torn on a response. Once I cleaned the apartment to the best of my ability, it was great. This is not an apartment you should plan on cooking in the kitchen. If location is your objective, the apartment is perfect. If the thought of staying in a college boy's apartment gives you nightmares, this is the not the place for you.
Location location Great! Very nice apartment and building for the budget , James was very helpful :)
Would definitely consider it if I go again.
Excellent communication, perfectly located apartment. James is a very nice and accommodating host.
Super emplacement , en plein cœur de New York , appart coquet. James a été très arrangeant . Très sympathique! Je recommande vivement ! Thanks James
The studio is located very central in Manhatten. You can reach shopping venues by foot, subway connections are about 2 blocks away. I don't think the location could be any better.
The studio has a good size for 2 people. The bed was clean and comfortable, and we felt relaxed after a night of sleep. The area seems pretty secure, even at night. So no shady things going on ;) Also, there is a doorman which makes it easy to get the keys and keeps an eye on who is going in and out.
Unfortunately, the bathroom was not as clean as one could hope for. It was ok, but I think a new shower curtain and a bit of effort could make this place an even better stay. Same thing with the kitchen. Also, the road beneath the appartment is quite noisy and the windows won't help much with that. So if you have troubles with sleeping, take some ear plugs along. Keep in mind though, that this is NY and you probably are not gonna find something as comfortable in this price range.
So, to wrap it up: Nice place to stay if you're looking for a centrally located appartment in the middle of manhatten and you're on a budget.
