My husband Sean and I love our house in Donegal and want others to enjoy it as we have done over the years
Beautiful cottage in the heart of the countryside. Each room is thoughtfully decorated and the open fire was very homely. No WiFi or mobile access did mean we had to head into town when we wanted to make contact with the outside world. Overall though, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hope to be back!
The cottage was beautiful and in an idyllic location, great if you want to get away from it all. The fires were lit on arrival and plenty of coal/peat was available to burn. The house is well equipped including a Bluetooth stereo which is handy for streaming music from your phone. A great experience and I'll definitely be returning :)
Driftwood cottage is a wonderful place, I can think of nothing we would have changed about it. It was the highlight of our trip, and Donegal is absolutely gorgeous. The cottage is pleasantly rustic, yet has all the comforts one needs. Sean had toasty peat fires going in both fireplaces when we got there around sunset -- that and the hot water bottles for our beds was most appreciated. The master bedroom has floor to ceiling picture windows overlooking the lawn and garden, and you can see stars out the window at night without going outside. There is a lovely beach and a delightful pub/restaurant within walking distance. There is so much to do and see around County Donegal, three days was not enough time to spend there. This is our first trip to Ireland -- if we are lucky enough to come back, Driftwood Cottage would be one place we would definitely want to stay again.

My husband and I really enjoyed our few days at Driftwood Cottage. Although Sean and Roseann could not meet us at the cottage, they rang me the day before to ensure I had directions, and to give me lots of tips about the best places to visit in the local area - they could not have been more helpful. They ensured that their friend visited the cottage and lit the fire for our arrival; coal, peat brickettes, sticks and firelighters were provided for our use.
The cottage is lovely - very homely and welcoming. You can tell this is a well loved family retreat. Also, it is really big and spacious - we were so surprised!
There is a TV (digital) with a DVD player. We found a DVD player in the kitchen; which were all great. You don't get a mobile signal and there is no wifi, but this was exactly what we wanted.
Towels are provided and there are the 'basics' in the kitchen cupboards too, which was excellent when it came to cooking our own meals.
We arrived off season, and the nearby Clock Tower restaurant (with free wifi) is only open Thurs-Sundays. As we stayed Mon-Fri, we only managed to go on our last night, but the food was amazing and the service was excellent.
The cottage was easily found - we didn't have a sat nav, but we found a good OS map was most helpful.
All-in-all, we will recommend this cottage and we would like to go back in the near future.
Absolutely lovely cottage. Perfect for a peaceful getaway! Everything was very clean and it was lovely to be greeted with the fire lit! Host was very friendly with great tips of how to spend our weekend.
We arrived after a long drive from Belfast (3-4 hrs dep on route) to a wonderful cosy cottage with the fire lit.. Sean was very helpful, giving us a quick tour and most importantly passing on some excellent local tips (beaches, walks, food - especially Kitty Kelly's down the road and Nancy's in Ardara).
The place could easily sleep two families, but we only needed the bedroom/lounge/kitchen and one of the bathrooms. The extension has been completed in a stylish way that is in keeping with the surroundings and we especially loved the landscaped garden in front with local plants. The beach is a 5 min walk and great for a morning run or walk.
The location is right on the wild atlantic way and driving is a great experience, the roads are very good and well signposted but bring a good map because your sat nav will not save you!
The kitchen has a good stack of music CDs in cupboard - excellent taste, including some Irish folk and 60s/70s signer/songwriter stuff. It was wonderful to listen to full albums again. There's a TV/DVD in main lounge and a hammock! Washing machine was a big plus.
This is 100% off grid, no phone or wifi so be prepared.. the Tower restaurant by the beach has free wifi. Also remember this is outside the UK so watch for roaming charges, change to Euro and much cheaper petrol! It's literally half the price for a full tank here compared to Belfast. Be prepared for rain but also glorious sunshine, the weather can change from village to village. Cafes and restaurants do not charge service so tip well.. the service is brilliant everywhere, so friendly.
The cottage was delightful and the local beach gorgeous. We really enjoyed our stay.
Our host made us feel very welcome, meeting him and his two sons. He took us through the cottage explaining things and gave us good local information and tourist advice. And on a damp afternoon it was nice they had a fire going for us.

We stayed at the house as a group of 8. Had a fantastic time! Great space with everything you could need. House was amazing and the location so quite but with great access to the beach, restaurant and local town. Sean met us and was so helpful, friendly and welcoming! They had even found a bbq for us and had left it ready to use with fuel and everything. So thoughtful! Perfect place for a Greg relaxing weekend with friends!
