I am very sociable and love having people to stay and hearing about their lives. If guests want to do their own thing that's fine; I'll try to help as much as I can with information. On the other hand if you'd like to share in some of my life and interests, meet my friends, see some of my favourite haunts, then it would be my pleasure. Meeting people and trading stories is one of the great joys of travel. Living in a real home is a much better way of getting to know an area, it's culture and people, than staying in an impersonal hotel, as I know from such hospitality I have enjoyed in my own travels.
Travelling, the great outdoors and physical activities are probably my greatest passions. I am very lucky to live in a beautiful place, that's great for walking, running, cycling and caving and with easy access to so many other lovely areas of coast and countryside; Exmoor, Dartmoor, Devon, South Wales, the Cotswolds, to name but a few. Usually these adventures end in one of the many inviting country pubs! Wells, itself is a gem of a 'city.' It is technically a city because it has a cathedral but it is really a market (website hidden) well as it's historical and scenic assets, it has pretty much everything you can ask for on a day to day basis, including supermarkets, street market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, pubs, cafes, restaurants, bus station and a very sweet little cinema. And if I need a real city fix, particularly to indulge my passion for arthouse cinema, Bristol and Bath are not too far away.
My house is comfortable, welcoming and above all a home. A place to chill out or entertain family and friends. I can think of no better way to spend an evening than chatting over dinner (I'm a pretty good cook) with a bottle of wine (or several!) telling tall tales! and am always willing to be challenged to a game of Scrabble or chess!
Hopefully, although we meet as strangers we will part as friends....
