Bruce was a fantastic host; check-in and check-out were easy because he had all the details worked out to make for a smooth experience. He called to explain everything before our stay, plus there was a welcome binder with all the details for quick reference. He made it clear he was available to call if we had any questions or issues but everything was perfect. The house and the lake are truly beautiful and there was every amenity we could want! Everyone in our group raved about what a perfect weekend we spent there and said that they want to come back with their families and stay there again.
Really an amazing spot in the world!
House is really set up nicely for 3 or 4 couples, great main floor area and an amazing location on the lake! Deck is perfect for lazy afternoon socializing, and the peace and quiet here is priceless!! No cell service in the area was great as no ones phone rang (yeah!!!!), but the provided WiFi was fast and had great range through the entire property for those that needed to be connected.
Being that we were down for a track day event at The Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, we also really appreciated all the available parking here for the 7 cars in our group and easy 20'ish minute commute to our venue.
Bruce was super helpful and really quick to respond to any questions or needs that came up, as well as being super interested in ensuring we had everything we needed. Top notch host!!
Bruce was a great host - totally in-touch and helpful. We arrived after dark and his clear instructions made it easy to find the house, open it up and make ourselves at home. The house was spacious and clean. Next time we'll go when there's better weather, because its proximity to the lake would make it a great spot for being in the sun. Still, on a cold and rainy night it's nice to stoke the wood stove and relax in comfort.
As everyone says, Bruce is a rock star—flexible and communicative. Even though he lives far away, he was gracious and easy-going when we arranged to come check out the houses in advance of our big Thanksgiving gathering. He explained that he was catching up on deferred maintenance and that the entire place is pretty much just as when he and his partners bought it a decade ago—furnishings, equipment, and so on. Lighting, electronics, and heat are a challenge to find and figure out.
Here’s the key: the place is roomy, affordable, sleeps many folks (mostly in double beds), and sits in a beautiful setting. It’s definitely a bargain that offers so much in such a great spot.
No guests had stayed in several months, and the house hadn’t been fully cleaned (dirty dishes in the sink, some full trashcans), but the housecleaner showed up our first evening, unprompted, to finish the job. We had up to 14 people over our 3-night stay, and the big property accommodated us well. We never managed to get the hot tub warm enough to soak in, and the fireplace wasn’t working either, but we had a fine time cooking, eating, sitting, and walking. Wanting to all be together, we found that the living room in the main house was the only place we could all comfortably hang out. I'm sure it’s even friendlier for a big group in summer (with its enormous outdoor decks) rather than in cold weather.
We had the luxury of juggling cooking and baking in two kitchens (albeit, with only one working cooktop, mismatched and missing pots, pans, and utensils), and we temporarily reconfigured the furniture to suit our large group, including extending the dining table to accommodate all of us (requires 2-3 strong guys).
This is a house FULL of the owners’ things so you definitely have a lot of furniture and equipment to work with (full cupboards and drawers, too, although we were a bit short on lightbulbs and dish and hand soap). But because many different people share these homes, the idiosyncracies of builder and owners test logic and order (where are the beaters that fit any of four mixers?! where's the pot for this coffeemaker?). Expect to enjoy the challenge of figuring it out and exercising your creativity (or just go sit on the dock and head to Belfair 20 minutes away for coffee, beer, and pizza).
The house was great. Big, many bedrooms, 2 nice decks, ample cooking supplies, and on a beautiful lake.
Only downside was that the hot tub is actually in the other house, not in the big house on the lake you would be renting.
Bruce is a great communicator and an accommodating host. He was very helpful in answering questions prior to our stay and making sure everything was in order for us. Thank you, Bruce!
Our biggest complaint was that this was listed as having 5 bathrooms, and it only has four. Even so, it worked fine for our party of 19 - ages 3 to 90.
The kitchen of the main house is spacious and well-appointed. The rest of the house felt more like a cabin than a luxury home, but it was fine for us. The guest house is also spacious and comfortable.
There were inside toys, outside toys (even a sandbox), and lots of water toys and lifejackets. All in all, this was a wonderful place for our family reunion.
We just had our family reunion here, and the location was awesome! The lake is beautiful, the availability of a couple of kayaks, a canoe, and a rowboat allowed us to go out on the water, and there were various other water toys as well. We stayed for the whole week and everyone had a great time. Fishing, swimming, boating, walking, and we brought bikes as well, so there was plenty to do. As far as location goes, this is a 5-star place.
Unfortunately, the accommodation are in need of repairs and cleaning. One bathroom was in the process of painting, several of the beds are pretty old, and carpets in some areas need replacing. There are also tons of little knick-knacks in both houses that should be removed, and none of the windows have screens (hello, bugs, come on in). Both hot tubs had filters that were also...gross... but we cleaned those.
The homes also feel a bit dated on some things, and the light switches seem to be haphazardly located and rarely where you would expect. The dock also looks like it will need some repairs in the next few years. The kitchen had most of what we needed as well, though some items weren't particularly clean when we arrived, particularly the refrigerators; one refrigerator was plugged into a dead outlet downstairs, which we had to move out to switch outlets, and another in the garage was so nasty we didn't even try to use it.
Despite the above, however, the price was much lower than other similar locations, and not many other places could accommodate a group of our size (20+ people). Bruce was nice when we met him, showed us around, and told us about repairs and other things that needed to be done. Hopefully he finishes everything as planned, as most of the issues are minor and easily fixable. Most of our group said they liked the location so much that they would come again, which is about as good as you can hope for from our motley crew.
What a great spot! We have a unique group that needed enough rooms for all of us and this worked out well. The house was nice, the property spacious and Bruce was great to work with. There were a lot of amenities at the house to make it easy (kitchen supplies, towels, linens, etc) that a lot of places don't have. The house could use a little work to spruce up a bit, but Bruce mentioned that they have some projects planned to do so. Great for a beautiful sunny weekend!
The house is great, the location was perfect, the lake is beautiful with so many water toys, life vests, floats and a million towels! Had a great time borrowing the paddle boat and canoe. Very nice that the beach area is shaded most of the day, with the option of the covered deck for more shade. We had a large group of 7 families and the house accommodated us well.
We didn't know ahead of time that the main house master suite is a loft room (more difficult for sleeping with young children). We had some miscommunication and the cleaning crew arrived at the same time we did, making it difficult to check in and get settled. The house was pretty dirty from the previous rental group and took a long time, and quite an effort to get in order.
The weather was HOT so we didn't use the hot tubs or firepit. The heat did make it uncomfortable in the house without AC, and without screens on the windows and some missing window coverings. Some floor fans were provided and there are several ceiling fans which helped. Bruce put in a new septic system recently and has had some plumbing work done but was not completed, with one tub/ shower unusable and several open walls. The house could use a deep clean and several minor repairs to make it a GREAT rental.
The host canceled this reservation the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
