The room was really great. Waldemar was quite a chatty and nice person as well. Friendly warm and unintrusive. He was very accommodating and did also give us a general directions to nearby cafes and the likes.
This was a really great base for my NYC holiday. The location couldn't have been better. Within 1 block is a coffee shop, a good grocery store, a Citi bike station and the surprisingly useful G train. The G train is good for Wburg, Park Slope MOMA PS1, and even for midtown.
Waldemar was a very nice host and was available at all times. He also had World cup and Wimbledon on which was good for getting updates.
The room was spacious and comfortable. Even on 95+ days the room was bearable with the fan on. The bathroom is very nice, and the small outdoor deck was perfect for breakfasts each morning.
The only thing I think everyone should be aware of is that there is very little acoustic privacy between this room and the neighboring room and also with the rest of the house. My girlfriend and I wanted to make *ahem* noise. We didn't really feel comfortable doing that and had to keep a lid on it. If you too are traveling as a couple you'll want to know this before you book...
Waldemar was extremely considerate and responsive to all my questions. He even introduced me to other people staying at the residence and made me feel like I was at home. I would definitely stay with Waldemar again.
Waldemar (email hidden) and the parlor room I stayed in is amazing. Location is perfect for exploring Brooklyn by foot or train. Highly recommended.
Waldemars place is nicely located in Brooklyn, close to metro stop, restaurants and a park. His hospitality is great, the roomfacilities are good and he os very friendly and laid back.
Neighborhood was interesting with lots of great small shops around the corner to eat and/or have a coffee. It's certainly diverse, but still hasn't reached that hipster quality that places like Park Slope or Williamsburg have. The picture is exactly the room; the house, though old, is architecturally beautiful, with high ceilings. LOVED the terrace. Waldemar was always around and he engaged in conversation if you wanted to converse, or left you alone if you didn't want to. I had a car and had no problems finding a spot. Bed was also comfortable. And hot evenings, you had the option of using a ceiling fan or air conditioner. (I opted for the fan.)
Response from Waldemar:
I agree but where is the space to put one?
Waldemar (email hidden). I stayed in his Parlor Room for 2 nights. The neighborhood is also great! While walking to the subway, I ran (email hidden) on Lafayette street, a wedding, and a sweet old couple going for an afternoon walk. Its a vibrant neighborhood and great location for a quick trip.
We rented the room en suite bedroom. Location and accommendation exactly as photos show, and valued low rate. Waldemar was a wonderful, responsive, respectful host, and I would love to (email hidden) again! Our suite had great ventilation: Luxurious fresh air from deck door coming in and an inviting and super clean bathroom has 3 windows. Bed was very comfortable. Those items and location were most important for us, since we had an assignment 2 and 4 blocks away on this past weekend! Chef's kitchen was there for us, conversation with guests and host, very enjoyable, french lunch place -almost next door- and parking in FRONT of house, made our stay perfect for us.
A great (website hidden) was gracious and friendly. Shared his knowledge and expertise with guests about the city and neighborhood.
Waldemar is very harmfull but his house is too noisy an dusty. I would not recommended this adress
Response from Waldemar:
Chantal's review sounds a bit extreme.
Chantal ALWAYS had the door to the deck wide open and that must have allowed dust to be blown in.
On the contrary, the neighborhood and house are VERY quiet.
