Great Stay! The apartment is very conveniently located - right across the East River. Stunning views of the Manhattan skyline and Brooklyn bridge. Near subway station and close to good restaurants/coffee shops/grocery stores/etc. The apartment is mall but perfect for the person that just needs a nice, clean and comfortable place to rest at the end of the day.
I would definitely stay here again and I would highly recommend it.
Lovely remote forested setting, cozy and comfortable with a fully equipped kitchen, which was important to us, and wonderful wood stove. Great spot for a small group or family. Easy access to surprisingly undeveloped Lake Ontario, parks and hiking. Great place to bike on dirt or asphalt roads along miles of orchards and farmland.
I had never heard of Sodus bay before our stay and we were treated to a quiet, private home with lots to offer and a lot of potential. The directions were very helpful and the details about things to see and do in Sodus bay really helped us plan our stay with activities for the kids. Shaker farms was enjoyable for the little ones and a learning experience for the grown ups. The beach at Sodus Bay was clean, accessible and well kept.
We reached Thornton point without incident and enjoyed exploring the house and the lake. There is a kayak that visitors can use but we didn't get a chance to use it. This was the first time the house was being rented out so there were a few things that could definitely be fixed or improved on.
For a first time rental this house was really nice but with a little elbow grease it would be exceptional for people who want to unplug, de-stress and take a break from the rat race. Walking into the house you have the kitchen and living room to your left and bedrooms to your right. There is a furnished basement with an additional room and half bath downstairs. The basement was very cool and comfortable in the summer.
Based on where the property is located, the TV signals are not available and the property does not have wifi/internet access. The house gets water from a well and on our last day at the house we ran out of water in the tank due to some type of issue with the pump. The home owner was easily reachable and put us in touch with a kind neighbor who allowed us to get water from their taps. This should not be an issue for future renters since the house was scheduled to get municipal water put in the day after we left (Jul 8,13). Linens and towels were provided by the owner and great for the lake or beach use. The owner also had outdoor games like badminton and indoor games like dominos, monopoly etc for our use. Besides the water fiasco we had a lovely visit and would recommend this home to other renters.
Absolute gentleman. Would recommend to anyone.
