I am not sure that I can convey just how wonderful Rose & her apartment are in just 500 words.
My two children & I stayed at Rose's place for 7 nights over Christmas & NYE. From first contact, Rose was an excellent communicator. We exchanged many emails back & forth that would contain extensive details about the apartment, where to eat, where to buy groceries, which subways to take, etc. etc. She even included links so that we could gather additional information online. Rose took an interest in the things that interested me & offered to make additional recommendations for gluten-free, vegetarian & yoga establishments.
The apartment was extremely comfortable. Two of us slept in the bed & one on the couch. Believe it or not, the kids fought for couch rights every night! The bed was ridiculously comfortable & I slept like a baby, waking up rested even when I only had a few hours of sleep.
The weather was quite cold when we visited but the heat in the apartment will keep you warm for sure. There is also no shortage of hot water.
The view from the roof is amazing & you should be sure to venture up there during the day, as well as the evening. You can see Freedom Tower, Empire State Building, the Williamsburg Bridge & so much more! I can only imagine how wonderful it is in the summer months.
The apartment has everything that you need. Hair dryer, blender, toaster, microwave, dishwasher, oven, internet, full kitchen, gas stove, fridge, etc. There are laundry facilities in the basement. The building is also super secure. Two doors at the entrance that both require keys. Having children, security was important to me.
I loved the residential feel of this neighborhood. If you normally stay in high tourist areas, you are missing out. Part of my goal for this trip was to live the life of a local. Mission accomplished. There are so many interesting places around every corner.
The first night (Christmas night) we went to FDR Pizza about two blocks away. We ended up grabbing a slice or two every single night. It became our tradition.
Per Rose's suggestion, we tried out Tompkin Square Bagels....a 15 minute walk. DELICIOUS! We found sports bars, amazing little grocery stores, Starbucks, & anything else that our hearts desired. You could stay in the neighborhood for your entire trip & be completely happy.
The closest subway is about a ten minute walk which was no trouble for us. Rose provides plenty of transportation details & options.
My only hesitation in writing this review is that all of you will now want to stay in her apartment & it won't be available for us the next time that we come into town. I looked at no less than 200 apartments before choosing this one. My search ends here.
Rose...you are amazing & I appreciate all of the work that you put into making our trip perfect & memorable.
Rose apartment is very cozy .A good place for a couple or just for one.the terrace is great and the building is nice,is very comfortable,i love the neighbourhood ,i will love to stay here again.
I just have to say that the place and Rose was so perfect that the memory of beein there makes me feel glad.
Thaks Rose. You are part of our history!
Over all, we had a great time in her apartment. Before our trip, she emailed us a great deal of info regarding the area (what we can do, where to eat, etc) and was very detailed in how to arrange our arrival. She was very helpful in all aspects of our trip, making our new year celebration very fun. The place was quaint, has a great character, and in a great location. We would definitely go back here on our next NYC trip! :D
Great place! Rose was fantastic, gave very good tips and made sure we'd have everything we needed for our stay. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!
I came for work and Rose's place was the perfect retreat. She warned me that it might be too far from the NYU campus where most of my work was taking place but fortunately the walk was perfect! All in all it was an absolutely wonderful experience!
There is an indian place, Punjabi Grocery & Deli, that is very close to the house and open at all hours and you can get a hot delicious meal for under $4.
Do not even try to find a better host or place in East Village, because this is it! Perfectly located, very clean and tidy, great terrace and the apartment is not so small as I was afraid it would be (photos do not make it look bigger at all, what you see is what you should expect!).Rose, thanks a lot for this wonderful stay!
From the moment I sent an inquiry to the day I left the apartment, Rose has been a fantastic host.
I did not meet her in person but a week before my stay, Rose has sent me a brief manual which basically solves every question you might have about the apartment and New York City (especially transportation). The only thing I had to consult her was about checking out and her response was very prompt and efficient. In addition, she had given me several recommendations on what to do or eat in New York which has proved to be very convenient.
The apartment was very clean and neat. I thought it looked bigger in the photos but it was fine for three people to sleep in. I had to sleep on the sofa and it was surprisingly comfortable that I had no back pain despite sleeping on it for 6 - 7 days. We were also left with milk, coffee, juices and also 2 passes to the international photo gallery.
The location was also superb. There was a convenience store right around the corner and the subway was only 10 mins away. My friends usually walked back at late hours and the neighbourhood seemed really safe. There were also heaps of yuppy, hippy and quirky restaurants and cafe around the area which I wish I had more time to explore.
My trip in New York City was really amazing, partially due to having a nice place to which you could go back after a long day. It felt like I was living in New York City instead of being a tourist. Rose's hospitality has also made my stay easy and pleasant. I highly recommend staying with Rose.
Prompt and friendly guests who were spending a weekend at an Omega program. Hope to see them again.
Rose was a great guest. Rose was considerate and respectful of the apartment, friendly, easy to communicate with, everything just flowed very well. Rose had 3 very good suggestions for improving the apartment and I will do them tomorrow.
Rose is an A+ guest. Rose is welcome back anytime.
I'm challenged to write creative reviews because all my guests have been great communicators and have left the place in perfect shape and Rose was no exception.
Rosemary was a excellent guest.. I didn't get to meet her in person but we had a lot of email communication. My house was in perfect shape when I returned. I would highly recommend Rose as a responsible guest.
Rosemary was quick to tell us how much she enjoyed staying at our place. We were most pleasantly surprised to find that upon leaving she had done the laundry and emptied the garbage and recycling. Not there is a guest fantastique! Thanks, Rosemary, for your grace and thoughtfulness!
