This was my second stay at John's house in Plymouth. John keeps communication lines open to ensure guests have everything they need before and during a stay at this lovely secluded house that is close to Killington and Ludlow/Okemo. He goes above and beyond by asking before your arrival if you have a preference for wine or beer, and then leaves this for you as a warm welcome gift. The house is as-described and has all the things listed including ready-to-use kitchen, a working fireplace, nice hot shower, comfortable living room, and nice, simply bedrooms. After my 2nd stay here, I will absolutely go back next time I'm headed to Vermont!
We had a great stay at John's house over MLK weekend. The house was spotless, warm, cozy, with plenty of room for our family of 4, and perfectly set up for guests. John left a bottle of wine and some treats for the kids which was a very nice, welcoming gesture. Our kids were very excited to find that the driveway was perfect for sledding. The location was very convenient - only 10-15 mins to Okemo and the town of Ludlow. We also enjoyed a nice dinner at the Echo Lake Inn which is only about 3 minutes from the house. John was very easy to communicate with - all directions/instructions for the house were very clear and simple. All in all, great value for a great stay.
All I can say is THANKS! What an awesome experience. We went from Miami, Fl to spend a weekend near Okemo Mountain to go skiing. This house is like 5 minutes from the resort which made it perfect because we didn't have any experience driving in this weather condition. John was very informative, I didn't have to ask him anything because his instructions were to the point. The house was clean, very nice, two comfortable bedrooms and enough room for all 6 of us to sleep. The kitchen was supplied with everything you needed to make breakfast and/or dinner. The cabin is even nicer than pictured. The only store to buy food is about 7 miles (Shawn's). We loved staying here and will definitely come back. Thanks very much John!!
We stayed at John's house for a week between Christmas and New Year 2014 to ski at Killington and Pico. Everything was great from reservation to our stay. We are a family of four with two children (age 8 and 12). John was very prompt in responding to my emails and gave clear instructions how to complete reservation and directions how to get to his house. He left a bottle of wine and a bottle of coke on the table to welcome us. There were instructions for arrival, departure, wifi, and starting the fireplace. There was no AT&T service at the house. My husband is a business owner. He was able to use wifi and the house phone to communicate with his clients. There are connections near and at the ski resorts.
The house was cozy, clean, and roomy. The furniture is more updated than in the pictures. The king size beds were very comfortable. He also had extra bedding for us. The kitchen is stocked with utensils, pots/pants, and condiments for you. The bathroom has towels and toilet paper. The dining room table is sitting for 6 people. The house is located in a quiet place; but within walking distance to the lake and streams. There are hiking trails and waterfall (Thunder Fall) on the way to Killington.
Shaw's grocery store (the closest) is 7 miles away near Okemo. Sweet Surrender Bakery (at the base of Okemo) is wonderful. While stay at the house, you can ski at Okemo, Pico, and Killington. We enjoyed the peacefulness, privacy, and will definitely return in the future.
Everything was great! My friends and I stayed there in order to ski at Killington.
When we arrived there was a bottle of wine on the table for us with a welcome note. There were directions explaining different things about the house, which was very helpful. There were cold beer mugs in the freezer, logs for the fire, and wifi passwords in a few rooms. We were pleasantly surprised that the furniture has been recently changed and was more modern and cozy than the photos. It was a little on the cold side, but there were several space heaters to use as well as the regular heat.
The spot is about a 30 minute drive to Killington, and on the way was a cute country store with great breakfast sandwiches. It was a great location, especially for the price!
We visited during the Thanksgiving weekend and had a wonderful experience. The listing was accurate. John was very helpful, going out of his way to leave us bottles of wine and answering a phone call late in the night. The house is clean, warm and very well stocked. King beds are super comfortable. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need, and then some more. The location is within easy driving distance of both Okemo and Killington. Cell phone reception is poor in the area (at least for AT&T) but the wifi in the house is good. We hope to visit again in the near future!
John's cabin was great. It is located right in the middle of the most scenic part of Vermont. John was a fantastic host, he communicated well, left a nice welcome gift and helped me get my computer connected to the high speed wifi. Everything you need for a wonderful get away. Would recommend John for future travel.
Hi Ed thanks for the great review.
John's home is in a great location with access to Okemo and Killington Mtns. The place was spotless with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The two bedrooms are big and plenty of overflow area in the living room and sun room for relaxing or sleeping extra guests/friends/family
We were greeted with a bottle of wine and when I left my sweatshirt behind John shipped it back to me...thanks John.
I would absolutely stay at John's again in the future.
We had a great weekend stay at Johns house- the pictures do not do it justice! The house is cozy, very comfortable and in a beautiful setting. We especially enjoyed the backyard deck and nearby creek. The house is perfectly located close by to kayaking, hiking, local shops and historic sites. We can't wait to come back in the winter!
We loved staying at John’s house so much we had to return! My family and I just spent a few days enjoying the tail end of the ski season, shuttling between Killington and Okemo, and John’s house was perfectly located between the two resorts. The cozy atmosphere draws us back every time, and with every visit we see new improvements, even the small ones. When we were ready to drive to NYC, our daughter asked, “When are we coming back?” - I guess we’ll back next season. Thank you again for your hospitality!
