We're a married couple living in San Fran that loves to travel!
The apartment is very comfortable and quiet, yet convenient to campus and restaurants. It is nicely decorated and equipped.
I have rented many private vacation homes over the years, and since I know the hosts are relatively new at this, I’d like to make a few suggestions. This is an unusual situation because it is actually their main residence, filled with personal furnishings and items. This gives you a feeling of being at home, but there isn’t much space for a guest’s own belongings. It would be helpful to have a dedicated shelf in the refrigerator and a place to hang clothes.
More detailed instructions for the tv/playstation would also be nice since it’s a complicated system and I had mixed success figuring it out even after speaking to Julie on the phone. The wifi worked great for my laptop, but one night when I tried to watch Netflix it said it couldn’t sign on to the internet.
The main concern I had was that the hosts charge a $100 cleaning fee, which seemed a lot for such a small place. This fee is comparable to what I usually pay when renting a 3 or 4 bedroom home or cabin. Overall the apartment was in nice shape, but there were some things that definitely needed attention, like black mold on the shower curtain and freshly shaved hair stubble in the bathroom sink. Because of the relatively high cleaning fee, I would have expected it to be immaculate and professionally cleaned.
The area seemed safe and peaceful, and I appreciated having an off-street parking spot. I would recommend this rental to others, knowing that there are a few improvements that could be made.
Julie and her friends were excellent guests and took great care of my house. Highly recommended!
Great guests! The house was in lovely condition Julie and her friends shared a girls' weekend at our Cottage in Austin, Texas. We'd be glad to host them again, anytime!
