Had a great experience staying at Andy's place. He was very welcoming and the room was just as described. The house was very close to a lot of good restaurants. Best part was waking up to freshly made huevos rancheros and coffee made by Andy himself.
We loved our stay with Andy! He was an excellent host and our room was clean, cozy, and private, and the bed very comfortable. Our bath had a nice shower, too. Andy had lots of great suggestions for restaurants and recommended an Italian one in particular that we went to and loved! His house is lovely and is located on a beautiful park in a quiet neighborhood. We easily navigated from there to downtown Providence. We would definitely enjoy staying there again on a future visit.
My daughter and I stayed with Andy when visiting RISD and Brown. Andy was friendly and helpful. He was quite knowledgeable about Providence and had compiled a list of good local restaurants from which we chose a delicious Mexican cafe. He also shared some interesting observations he had about both schools from his experiences working with students/faculty there.
Staying with Andy was comfortable and felt more like crashing in a friend's spare room, than a B+B experience. We arranged our arrival around his schedule, which worked out fine. He made coffee in the morning and we picked up breakfast outside. The room was a good price and a ten minute drive to the downtown/college area. There was plenty of street parking although we parked in his driveway which is sometimes available as another full-time tenant parks there.
The no-frills bed room and bath are private and tucked upstairs in an attic cove. The room is small, but houses a queen bed situated under a large window. The mattress was a bit too soft for me, it has a 3" piece of foam on top of an older mattress. My daughter and I have shared beds before, but on this one we both rolled a bit into the middle. Maybe best for those used to sleeping together - LOL. There were a few dust bunnies and the bed spread had some stains but we appreciated the price and Andy's warm welcome.
If there was one thing I thought could be improved, it would be the cleanliness of the rooms.
We had an excellent stay at Andy's. The space was clean, quiet, comfy, private, and as-advertised. Andy was an extremely thoughtful host and his dining recommendations were on point. I highly recommend a stay with Andy!
Andy is a very sweet and welcoming host. The listing is across the street from a lovely park and an easy walk to decent restaurants. When I visit Providence again, I'll definitely consider staying here.
I was in town to visit my daughter and just needed a quiet place to lay my head. Andy's house was perfect - a quiet, very comfortable and private room on the third floor of the house, with it's own bathroom. Andy was friendly and helpful. The neighborhood was nice, a short drive from downtown and College Hill or an easy bike or walk.
Andy was very welcoming, he told us about what spots to visit and had a list of restaurants available! The room was perfect and Andy even made us coffee in the morning! Would recommend this place!
What a find! This was my first Airbnb experience and it was an extremely positive one. I got a late start in travel plans for Brown University graduation and thankfully Andy was able to accept my reservation--I very much appreciated his quick responses to my inquiries. I was a little nervous about staying with someone in their home (again, first Airbnb experience) but it was perfect: my husband and I had the attic floor to ourselves with comfortable bed and linens as well as a private bath with plenty of hot water. Andy respected our privacy but when we did cross paths he was politely conversational and was genuinely interested in making sure we enjoyed our stay. Andy thoughtfully provided us with a list of recommended restaurants and the location is perfect to either walking or taking a short drive to them--North for one of the best dinners I've ever had, Julian's for a unique brunch menu, and Seven Stars for morning pastries and a caffeine top off (Andy had coffee ready for us each morning--thank you!). I'll be coming back to Providence in Dec 2015 when my daughter finishes that last semester of school after a year abroad and I'm planning on staying with Andy.
Our stay with Andy is just what we were hoping for. He was friendly and accommodating. His home was nice and clean with lots of art. He had helpful Providence information/resources for us to peruse, which helped lead us to having one of the best meals ever (Broadway Bistro - go there). Tip: For all you sensitive sleepers out there I would make sure to bring your sleep mask as the bedroom was bright at night even with the curtains drawn.
Thanks for the heads up re: light bulb. Will change out now. Yes, it seems having the bed like it is give you more space on either side to get out of bed, but thanks so much for the suggestions.
Our stay at Andy's was quite short, but we we're able to make the most of it with Andy's great restaurant suggestions and sites to see in Providence. The house is very well located as well with a nice view on a park.
He suggested to get up early and go have breakfast at The Kitchen (the one slice bacon is not to be missed). Best breakfast of my life hands down!
All in all, Andy is a great host and ambassador to Providence!
Andy is just like his photo, smiling, outgoing, entertaining and very laid back. He was in Tampa on business (successful business at that) which may his stay even more enjoyable. Andy was considerate of the house and other house guests and we look forward to his continues return trips to Tampa. Andy is well established in the AirBnB community and is a perfect guest.
